About the Role:
A hands-on electronics manufacturing professional to lead appliance production operations at the cluster/plant level. This role is the execution engine of owning shop floor performance, electronics assembly quality, team productivity, and operational metrics day to day.
Role at a Glance:
Title - EMS Operations Head / Cluster Head
Function - Manufacturing Operations
Location - Plant Location (Bengaluru)
Reports To - VP Operations
Experience : 11-18 years
Education : B.E. / B.Tech - Electronics / Electrical Engineering
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shop Floor & Production Management :
- Manage end-to-end production of appliances across assigned cluster - PCB assembly, SMT lines, power board testing, coil assembly, and final box-build
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production output targets with high OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Drive shift planning, manpower allocation, and throughput efficiency across assembly lines
- Lead Lean / Kaizen initiatives to reduce cycle time, rework, and material wastage
Electronics Assembly & Process Ownership :
- Own SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole soldering processes for appliances control boards and power PCBs
- Ensure correct setup and calibration of SMT machines, reflow ovens, wave soldering, and ICT fixtures
- Monitor IGBT assembly, coil gap tolerances, and power board functional performance
- Implement and enforce ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and IPC class standards across the line
2. Quality, Testing & Compliance :
- Drive first-pass yield (FPY) targets and reduce field return / defect rates on appliances products
- Manage in-circuit testing (ICT), functional testing (power, temperature control, safety cutoff), and end-of-line quality checks
- Ensure all products comply with BIS IS 302-2-6 standards before dispatch
- Lead root cause analysis (8D / 5-Why) for production defects and implement corrective actions
3. Component & Material Management :
- Coordinate with procurement for component availability - IGBTs, capacitors, microcontrollers, coils, glass tops
- Manage material flow on the shop floor - kitting, WIP control, and inventory accuracy
- Track and flag component quality issues; coordinate with incoming QC and vendors for resolution
4. Team Leadership :
- Lead a team of 30-80 operators, technicians, and line supervisors across the cluster
- Drive daily production huddles, skill development programs, and cross-training of technicians
- Maintain discipline, safety compliance (OSHA/factory act), and a positive shop floor culture
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 11-18 years of experience in electronics manufacturing - specifically in consumer appliances, EMS companies, or kitchen appliance plants
- Strong hands-on electronics background - SMT operations, IGBT-based power electronics, PCB assembly, and functional testing
- Experience managing a high-volume assembly line or cluster in companies
- Practical knowledge of BIS certification processes, IPC-A-610 standards, and ISO 9001 QMS
- Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; hands-on with OEE tracking, SMED, and line balancing
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, PCB layouts, and BOM structures
