Role Overview:

The Analyst - Impact Startup Investments role at Clay Capital involves identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities in early-stage impact startups for Debt and Equity funding. You will work closely with the investment team, conducting due diligence, building financial models, and assessing the social and environmental impact of potential investments. This role directly contributes to Clay Capital's mission of deploying capital to innovative companies driving positive change and generating strong financial returns.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive market research and industry analysis to identify promising impact investment opportunities for Debt and Equity funding.

- Perform financial due diligence, including reviewing financial statements, building financial models, and analyzing key performance indicators, to assess the financial viability of potential investments.

- Evaluate the social and environmental impact of potential investments using established frameworks and methodologies, ensuring alignment with Clay Capital's impact goals.

- Prepare investment memos and presentations for the investment committee, summarizing key findings and recommendations.

- Support the investment team in negotiating term sheets and closing investment deals.

- Monitor portfolio company performance, track key impact metrics, and provide support to portfolio companies as needed.

- Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders in the impact investing ecosystem.

- Develop a thorough BD plan towards strengthening the Industry presence and impactful marketing initiatives.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to conduct financial due diligence, build financial models, and analyze investment opportunities.

- Proven ability to assess the social and environmental impact of businesses using established frameworks.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate investment recommendations to diverse audiences.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, or impact investing.
