Role Overview

The City Head - Business Banking is a critical, senior leadership position with Primary Responsibility focused on comprehensive Team Handling and Client Management for the city's Current Account (CA) portfolio.

This role demands P&L ownership for the entire city's current account business and requires a seasoned banking professional with proven ability in sales leadership, team mentoring, and strategic business development.

The incumbent will drive the acquisition and deepening of high-value CA relationships across key segments (SME, Corporate, Traders, Institutions) while ensuring strict regulatory adherence.

Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished City Head to assume full P&L responsibility for the Current Account (CA) business at the city level, driving aggressive CA balance growth, fee income, and transaction volumes.

The ideal candidate will possess robust sales leadership skills to lead, mentor, and manage a team of Managers, Relationship Managers, and Acquisition Officers.

Key deliverables include strategic acquisition of high-value accounts, ensuring deep product penetration (CMS, Trade, FX), building strong client relationships with top corporates, and rigorously maintaining compliance with all KYC, AML, and internal governance norms.

Key Responsibilities and Business Banking Deliverables

Business Development & Revenue Growth (P&L Ownership):

- Own P&L for the citys current account business, driving profitability and sustainable growth.

- Drive acquisition of high-value Current Accounts across targeted segments including SME, Corporate, Traders, and Institutions.

- Deliver aggressive targets for CASA/CA balance growth, fee income, and increase daily transaction volumes.

- Identify new business opportunities and high-potential customer clusters through market mapping and data analysis.

Sales Leadership & Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team structure comprising Sales Managers, Relationship Managers, and Acquisition Officers.

- Implement weekly/monthly business reviews and rigorous performance tracking mechanisms to monitor productivity against targets.

- Ensure high team productivity, capability building through ongoing training, and maintain strong sales discipline across all activities.

Portfolio Management & Deepening:

- Monitor and drive continuous account activation, cross-sell of bank products, and transaction deepening within the existing CA base.

- Implement strategies to reduce account dormancy and ensure healthy product penetration (Payments, CMS, POS, Trade, FX, Treasury products).

- Ensure high customer retention rates and champion an excellent service experience for all business clients.

Key Client & Market Engagement:

- Build and maintain robust relationships with top SMEs, corporates, channel partners, and market influencers.

- Actively engage in market visits, client meetings, and high-level networking events.

- Represent the bank credibly within local trade associations, business communities, and Chambers of Commerce.

Compliance, Risk & Governance:

- Ensure all Current Account sourcing adheres to KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and internal compliance norms.

- Maintain high quality of sourcing (QOS) documentation and processes to minimize operational and reputational risks.

- Drive adherence to audit guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements specific to business banking operations.

Strategic Planning & Reporting:

- Develop city-level CA growth strategies aligned precisely with regional and national business banking goals.

- Provide timely and accurate MIS reports, critical market insights, and competitor benchmarking analysis to regional leadership.

- Recommend product enhancements and service improvements based on direct customer needs and market feedback.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

- Domain Expertise: Mandatory senior experience in Business Banking or Corporate Sales, with a primary focus on Current Account (CA) acquisition and management.

- Leadership: Proven ability to Lead, mentor, and manage a sales team structure.

- Financial Acumen: Direct experience with P&L ownership and driving metrics like CASA/CA balance growth and fee income.

- Compliance: Strong knowledge of KYC, AML, and banking regulatory requirements.

- Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with top SMEs and corporates.

Preferred Skills

- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent post-graduate qualification.

- Prior experience managing a City-level or Zonal-level P&L for a financial product.

- Deep knowledge of transaction banking products such as CMS (Cash Management System), Trade Finance, and FX.

- Experience integrating digital channels for business acquisition and servicing
