Job Title: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - Steel & Pipe

Reporting To: Managing Director

Location: Mumbai

Role Purpose:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for driving the organization's technology strategy across the Steel and Pipe businesses to enhance operational excellence, manufacturing efficiency, product innovation, quality, and sustainability. The role provides strategic leadership for engineering, process technology, automation, digital manufacturing, and technical services to strengthen the organization's competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technology Strategy:

- Develop and execute the technology roadmap aligned with the organization's business strategy.

- Identify emerging technologies to improve operating efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost competitiveness.

- Drive innovation across Iron making, DI Pipes manufacturing, TMT rolling mills, pipe manufacturing, coating and downstream operations.

- Lead technology benchmarking and adoption of industry best practices.

2. Manufacturing Excellence:

- Improve operating processes to increase productivity, yield, and throughput.

- Drive process optimization to reduce conversion costs and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

- Lead initiatives to minimize waste, rework, energy consumption, and production losses.

- Support capacity enhancement and debottlenecking projects.

3. Product & Process Development:

- Lead the development of value added pipe products and offerings based on customer and market requirements.

- Improve product quality and process capability.

- Support product certifications and customer approvals.

- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on technical solutions for customers.

4. Research & Development Initiatives:

- Provide inputs to R&D team for process innovation, material development, product enhancement, and sustainability.

5. Capital Projects:

- Provide technical inputs for new plant installations, modernization, expansion projects, and major capital investments.

- Evaluate new technologies, CAPEX, and ROI from technical and commercial perspectives.

6. Leadership & Capability Building:

- Build a high-performing technology and engineering organization.

- Develop technical talent and succession plans.

- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.

- Master's degree in Engineering, Technology Management, or Business Administration is preferred.

Experience:

- 20-25 years of progressive experience in the steel and/or pipe manufacturing industry.

- Proven leadership in manufacturing technology, engineering, technical services, or operations.

- Experience in integrated steel plants, pipe manufacturing, or related industries.

- Demonstrated success in digital transformation, process optimization, and technology implementation.
