Chief Technology Officer - NGO

This role is for a non profit in the social impact space. The company name will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

The Role:

This non-profit needs a CTO to solve for billions, who need it the most!

They need a CTO. Not a title-holder. They are looking for someone who will sit at the intersection of deep technical craft and messy, real-world public systems and find that exciting rather than exhausting.

What You'll Do:

- You will lead the engineering team, engage with governments, speak to the UN and the World Bank, build tech partnerships with hyper scalers, and still care about a broken API in a tier-3 city.

- This is not a high-glamour role. Your users don't know your name. Your wins are quite outrageous, that they seem far from real. A garbage complaint in the street gets resolved without chasing it. A small shopkeeper gets a trade license renewed in one click while dishing out his world famous chaats. A scholarship from a college reaches a deserving 16 year old girl in a small tribal village and gives her much deserved ambition, flight. A child in a malaria-stricken region gets a shot at life because well, the shot arrived on time.

- You will own the technology strategy, the architecture, the engineering organisation, and increasingly, how AI and data make their platforms not just digital but intelligent. Intelligence where it actually matters, when public systems see earlier, decide better, respond faster, and remember that citizens should not have to fight the state for basic services. Anticipatory rather than reactive.

What We're Looking For:

- You should have 15+ years behind you, have built things at scale, have real opinions about open-source, and a genuinely thoughtful, not performative view on AI.

- You must also know that government is slow, bureaucracies are frustrating, but the government is also an ally, because when it really clicks, it scales and touches an entire population. Some of your best work will take years to show up.

- Patience is a technical skill here and so is humility.
