CTO-The/Nudge Foundation The challenge: India has become the 5th largest economy in the world, but 360 million are "poor" (using Government metrics) and l45 million live below the poverty line. This inequity is unaccepta ble. About 3.4% of our annual budget or 0.28% of the income of the top l% of our population would lift and could bring everybody above the poverty line, however this is complex and we need the best of human intellects to be focussed on solving it. About us: The/Nudge Foundation exists to alleviate poverty. We are a collective of some of India's best leaders and entrepreneurs from across industry, academia, government, and the development sector, passionately working on ways to address poverty sustainably and at scale. In the five years since our inception, we have worked on a range of initiatives including developing innovative programs that enable underprivileged youth to lead flourishing lives, adapting evidence-based approaches to enable rural families to come out of extreme poverty, and incubating 60+ nonprofits focused on solving India's biggest challenges. We have also used the knowledge and networks developed through our work to impact policy, address ecosystem barriers and launch scale programs. We are now building on our capabilities and work to embark on an ambitious effort to nurture six to eight "social transformations" (i.e., using effective solutions to create pathways to scale that address the underlying problem; examples of such transformations include microfinance and the white revolution). These transformations (or "programs" as we call them) will be anchored in "centers" which will provide domain expertise, connection to the broader ecosystem and thought partnership. The centers will also be thought leaders in their space and influence the broader ecosystem (including policy and practice). There will also be horizontal teams, e.g., Impact & Evaluation, Technology, and Data & Insights, that all the programs and centers will use. These teams will also be seen as exemplars in their space and will influence the broader ecosystem. You will be tasked with making executive technology decisions on behalf of the company, including managing a technology budget and making technology investments for disruptive innovation. You should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator and an expert in technological development. You will act as a technology expert partnering with the center and program heads at the organization, building and guiding a team that is at the forefront of leveraging technology for social transformation models. Role & Responsibilities: - Leading a team that partners with the product managers and delivers technology products and capabilities to specification, on time, within budget and at quality. - End to end responsibility for the software product development process and being accountable for solution delivery at scale and at quality - Building a team of technologists that are experts in identifying technology trends and developments to solve for problem statements and business requirements identified by product managers. - End-to-end Software solution selection and managing the implementation process in case of off-the-shelf solutions - Driving technology strategy including Build-vs-buy decisions and owning the associated delivery and resource management strategy. - Vendor selection (product engineering and software services vendors as necessary) and resources management - Acting as a mentor to team members. - Managing technology budgets and time frames. - Ensuring adoption of latest technology development frameworks and processes as may be relevant. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. - Masters in Computers Science, Computer Applications or MBA in Systems a plus. - 12+ years working in a technological role with atleast S years managing teams. - 5+ years leadership experience. - Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with technology. - Exceptional team management skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication. - Ability to delegate efficiently. - Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards the future.
