- The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) will lead the enterprise-wide risk strategy for a fast- growing NBFC, ensuring a robust, future-ready risk framework that supports sustainable growth across secured and unsecured lending portfolios. This role is responsible for developing risk governance, portfolio analytics, credit policies, and risk technology initiatives.

Description:
1. Credit Risk Management (Secured & Unsecured Lending)
- Lead policy formulation for underwriting, credit scoring, risk-based pricing, and portfolio management.
- Oversee credit approval frameworks for retail, MSME, consumer finance, and asset-backed loans.
- Monitor and manage portfolio quality, early warning systems, and stress testing frameworks.
- Build advanced analytics models (scorecards, LGD/PD/EAD models) to drive profitable growth.
2. Risk Strategy & Governance:
- Define and implement the organization's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
- Establish risk appetite in collaboration with the Board and senior leadership.
- Build and maintain governance mechanisms across credit, operational, market, and compliance risks.
- Drive adoption of risk-based decisioning across all business functions.
3. Collections & Fraud Risk:
- Strategize collection frameworks, loss forecasting, and recovery models.
- Establish fraud prevention controls, digital fraud monitoring, and risk intervention strategies.
- Build relationships with legal partners, agencies, and law enforcement to improve recovery efficiency.
4. Operational & Regulatory Risk:
- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines applicable to NBFCs (Fair Practices Code, KYC/AML, Co-Lending, Securitization, Sourcing norms).
- Lead risk assessment for products, processes, and digital channels.
- Oversee audit readiness, reporting, and coordination with internal/external auditors.
5. Technology, Digital & Analytics:
- Lead digital risk transformation initiatives including automated underwriting, AI/ML-driven decision engines, and rule-based systems.
- Partner with technology teams to strengthen system controls, data integrity, and cyber risk measures.
- Drive implementation of risk reporting dashboards using BI/analytics tools.
6. Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing risk team across credit, collections, fraud, and operational risk functions.
- Collaborate with business, product, and finance teams to balance risk with growth objectives.
- Present portfolio insights and risk assessments to the Board, investors, and regulatory authorities.
Profile:
- Minimum 16+ years in risk management, with extensive exposure to both secured and unsecured lending.
- Strong experience with retail lending, MSME finance, consumer loans, personal loans, business loans, and asset-backed products (LAP, auto, gold, two-wheeler, etc.).
- Proven track record of managing large loan portfolios at an NBFC, bank, or fintech.
- Demonstrated success in implementing digital underwriting, credit scorecards, and data-driven risk tools.
