We are seeking a seasoned and strategically oriented Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the organisation's enterprise-wide risk management agenda and strengthen its risk governance, control environment, and organisational resilience.
The Chief Risk Officer will be expected to establish a credible, integrated, and forward-looking risk management function that enables the organisation to pursue its growth ambitions within a well-defined risk appetite, supported by robust controls, effective fraud oversight, and strong governance.
The role encompasses oversight of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Operations Risk, and the TVC/Fraud Control Unit, with responsibility for establishing an integrated, forward-looking risk framework aligned with the organisation's business strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite.
The CRO will serve as a key strategic advisor to the Managing Director and senior leadership, providing independent and objective perspectives on material risk exposures, control effectiveness, and emerging threats.
A critical component of the role will be direct engagement with the Risk Management Committee and Audit Committee, including ownership of risk reporting, preparation of executive-level presentations, and communication of key risk matters, mitigation strategies, and governance updates.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Enterprise Risk Management & Strategic Risk Oversight:
- Own and lead the organisation's Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring an integrated approach to identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating enterprise-wide risks.
- Provide independent risk oversight and strategic counsel to the MD and senior management on material risk exposures and risk-return considerations.
- Establish and periodically review risk appetite, risk governance frameworks, policies, and risk monitoring mechanisms in alignment with the organisation's strategic objectives.
- Ensure comprehensive identification and assessment of strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, reputational, and emerging risks, as applicable to the business.
- Drive enterprise-wide risk visibility through appropriate risk indicators, reporting mechanisms, and escalation protocols.
- Challenge business decisions and practices where risk exposures, control weaknesses, or governance concerns warrant intervention.
- Build a proactive risk culture that supports sustainable growth while protecting the organisation's financial and reputational interests.
2. Operations Risk & Control Environment:
- Provide strategic oversight of the Operations Risk Management function, ensuring robust processes, controls, and risk monitoring across the organisation.
- Establish a structured framework for operational risk identification, assessment, monitoring, incident management, and remediation.
- Oversee risk and control self-assessments, operational loss events, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Identify systemic control weaknesses and drive cross-functional remediation with business and functional leaders.
- Strengthen operational resilience, business continuity, process governance, and control effectiveness.
- Ensure operational risk reporting provides timely and meaningful insights to senior management and relevant governance committees.
3. TVC / Fraud Control Unit:
- Provide executive oversight and strategic direction to the TVC/Fraud Control Unit.
- Strengthen the organisation's fraud risk management framework, including prevention, detection, investigation, escalation, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Oversee the identification of fraud vulnerabilities, control gaps, and emerging fraud risks across business and operational processes.
- Ensure appropriate governance around fraud-related incidents, investigations, reporting, and remediation.
- Drive collaboration between the Fraud Control Unit, Operations, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, and business functions to enhance preventive and detective controls.
- Present material fraud risks, trends, incidents, and mitigation initiatives to the appropriate management and governance forums.
4. Board & Governance Committee Engagement:
- Serve as the senior-most risk management leader responsible for presenting the organisation's risk profile and key risk matters to relevant governance forums.
- Report to the Managing Director, Risk Management Committee, and Audit Committee, in accordance with the organisation's governance structure and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality, data-driven presentations covering enterprise risk exposures, operational risk, fraud risk, key risk indicators, control effectiveness, and remediation progress.
- Provide clear, concise, and independent insights to committees to facilitate informed oversight and decision-making.
- Ensure timely escalation of material risks, significant incidents, and unresolved control issues.
- Track and oversee the implementation of committee recommendations and action points.
- Strengthen the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of risk governance reporting.
5. Regulatory, Compliance & Assurance:
- Ensure the enterprise risk framework remains aligned with applicable regulatory guidelines, statutory requirements, and internal governance standards.
- Partner with Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, and other assurance functions to strengthen the overall control environment.
- Monitor material regulatory developments and assess their implications for the organisation's risk profile and operating model.
- Support effective resolution of significant audit observations, control deficiencies, and regulatory risk matters.
- Promote accountability and risk ownership across business and support functions.
6. Executive Leadership & Risk Culture:
- Lead, mentor, and develop risk management teams across relevant functional areas.
- Build strong relationships with business heads, functional leaders, and senior management while maintaining the independence of the risk function.
- Embed risk considerations into strategic planning, business expansion, product development, and operational decision-making.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk identification.
- Drive continuous improvement in risk frameworks, processes, reporting, and technology-enabled risk monitoring.
- Experience in managing complex, cross-functional risk environments and influencing business leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement, challenge constructively, and communicate material risks with clarity.
