Job Description: Risk Officer - Broking Company (India) Role Overview: The Risk Officer shall be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to market exposure, operational processes, regulatory compliance, and technology. The role ensures that the firm operates within SEBI, NSE, BSE, and other regulatory frameworks while safeguarding client interests and maintaining financial stability. Key Responsibilities 1. Risk Management & Monitoring - Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework for market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks. - Monitor daily trading activities to ensure exposure remains within defined risk limits. - Oversee client-level risk management, including margin monitoring, exposure limits, and position tracking. 2. Market & Credit Risk Assessment - Monitor VaR (Value at Risk), stress testing, and scenario analysis to assess potential trading losses. - Implement real-time risk controls to prevent excessive leverage or unauthorized trades. - Assess the creditworthiness of clients and counterparties before allowing leveraged trading. 3. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Governance - Ensure adherence to regulatory risk management guidelines. - Coordinate with compliance teams to ensure risk policies align with regulatory requirements. - Submit periodic risk assessment reports to regulators, auditors, and senior management. 4. Technology & Cyber Risk Management - Work with the technology team for institutionalization of cybersecurity risk controls to protect sensitive client and trading data. - Ensure risk mitigation strategies for algo trading, API-based trading, and digital platforms. - Work with IT teams to monitor system vulnerabilities and trading disruptions. 5. Margin & Collateral Risk Management - Monitor client margins, MTM (Mark-to-Market) requirements, and margin shortfalls. - Implement risk-based margining to prevent excessive exposure and defaults. - Ensure compliance with SEBI's Peak Margin & VAR+ELM requirements. 6. Fraud Detection & Internal Control - Work with the compliance team for surveillance mechanisms to detect potential insidertrading, front running, and wash trades. - Assist the compliance team in the investigation of suspicious trading patterns and report irregularities to compliance teams. - Develop internal risk policies for fraud prevention and ensure strict enforcement. 7. Stress Testing & Business Continuity Planning - Conduct stress tests and back-testing to assess resilience against market volatility. - Develop a business continuity plan (BCP) to manage operational risks and crises. - Work with the IT team to ensure system redundancy and disaster recovery planning. Key Qualifications & Skills: Educational Background: - CA/FRM/CFA/MBA (Finance/Risk Management) or equivalent - Required Certifications such as NISM (Risk Management Module) Experience: - 5-15 years in risk management within the broking or financial services industry - Exposure to trading, derivatives, algo trading, and exchange compliance is an advantage Technical & Soft Skills: - Strong knowledge of SEBI Risk Management Framework, VAR models, and stress testing - Proficiency in risk analytics tools and trading platforms (Omnesys, ODIN, Rupeeseed) - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Ability to work with compliance, technology, and trading desks to manage risk effectively
