Our partner organisation is hiring a COO - Waste Management Services to lead two high-impact business lines that together contribute ~50% of topline:
- Total Waste Management (TWM): End-to-end collection, transportation, and processing of source-segregated waste from bulk generators (residential complexes, commercial establishments, institutions).
- Event Waste Management (EWM): Enabling private and public events to achieve zero-waste and climate-responsible outcomes.
This is a full P&L leadership role with significant autonomy, high visibility, and direct mission impact.
Key responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Own P&L, budgeting, and forecasting across TWM and EWM.
- Set and deliver revenue and margin growth targets in line with organisational objectives.
Operations & Expansion

- Scale services geographically by establishing new operational hubs.
- Lead execution of large-scale events with a focus on zero-waste outcomes.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure meaningful inclusion of informal waste workers across both service lines.
- Build and sustain relationships with bulk generators, event organizers, municipalities, and partners.
- Deliver tailored waste solutions aligned with client sustainability goals.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor diverse cross-functional teams across locations.
- Build a culture of innovation, accountability, and empathy consistent with the organisation's mission.
Monitoring & Innovation
- Define and track KPIs; use data to drive continuous operational improvement.
- Drive innovation in logistics, waste processing, and digital tools.
Ideal candidate profile
- 8-12 years of experience in business operations, P&L management, or service delivery, preferably in waste management, logistics, or sustainability.
- Proven track record of scaling operations and managing large teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and social equity.
- B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. MBA or master's in a relevant discipline is a plus.
Why this role:
- Lead two strategic business lines at a globally recognised, Fair Trade-certified social enterprise - with real autonomy and a strong support structure.
- Work at the intersection of commercial growth and systemic social impact, in an organisation where mission is not a footnote.
- Be part of building a waste-free, inclusive future - where the people who make recycling possible are fairly recognised and rewarded.
