Job Title:- Chief Operating Officer

Role Responsibilities:-

Responsible for end-to-end operations management of the stock broking business, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, process automation, and cost optimization. The role will oversee broking operations, depository operations, account opening, settlements, audits, and regulatory implementation, while driving scalable and efficient processes across the organization

Job Responsibilities:-

Brokerage & Operations Management

- Oversee day-to-day broking operations across equity, derivatives, and other permitted segments.

- Ensure timely pay-in and pay-out of funds and securities as per exchange and clearing corporation norms.

- Manage settlement processes, including reconciliation with exchanges, clearing corporations, banks, and custodians.

- Ensure smooth coordination with NSE/BSE/MCX/NCDEX, clearing members, and clearing corporations.

Regulatory & Compliance Implementation

- Ensure timely implementation of SEBI, Clearing Corporation, and Depository circulars related to brokerage operations.

- Maintain strict adherence to SEBI Regulations, exchange by-laws, and operating instructions.

- Act as a key liaison with regulators, exchanges, depositories, auditors, and compliance consultants.

- Support the Compliance Officer in regulatory filings, inspections, and responses.

Depository Operations (DP - NSDL/CDSL)

- Oversee all DP operations, including demat account maintenance, pledge / unpledged activities, transfers, rematerialisation and corporate actions.

- Ensure compliance with NSDL/CDSL operating guidelines and SLAs.

- Monitor DP risk, grievances, and investor complaints to ensure timely resolution.

Account Opening & Client Onboarding

- Supervise client account opening (trading & demat), including KYC, IPV, CKYC, and documentation.

- Ensure onboarding processes are digitized, compliant, and customer-friendly.

- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and reduce rejections through process improvements

Audit & Risk Management

- Lead and manage internal, concurrent, system, DP, and exchange audits.

- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.

- Strengthen operational risk controls, maker-checker processes, and exception monitoring.

Process Automation & Efficiency

- Drive process re-engineering and automation across operations, DP, settlements, and onboarding.

- Work closely with technology and vendors to implement scalable, compliant systems.

- Reduce manual interventions, errors, and dependency on legacy processes.

Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

- Develop and monitor cost-control initiatives across operations, vendors, and infrastructure.

- Improve operational productivity while maintaining regulatory compliance and service quality.

- Prepare MIS dashboards on costs, efficiency, errors, and turnaround times for senior management.

Team Leadership & Governance

- Lead and mentor operations, DP, and onboarding teams.

- Define clear roles, KPIs, and accountability frameworks.

- Build a strong compliance-driven culture with customer-first focus.

Professional Background

- 12-18+ years of experience in stock broking / capital markets operations, with strong exposure to settlements and DP functions.

- Proven expertise in end-to-end brokerage operations, including pay-in/pay- out, settlements, and client asset reconciliation.

- Hands-on experience in implementing SEBI, Exchange, Clearing Corporation, and Depository circulars.

- Extensive exposure to regulatory inspections and audits, including exchange and DP audits, with timely closure of observations.

- Strong background in client onboarding and KYC processes, including digital account opening and CKYC.

- Demonstrated ability to streamline operations, drive automation, and achieve cost efficiencies.

- Experience in leading multi-location operations teams and working closely with regulators, exchanges, and depositories.
