Job Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving operational excellence, achieving topline growth, and ensuring profitability across all showroom operations. The COO will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, including store operations, customer service, new store expansion, and P&L accountability. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the Jewellery retail industry, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of scaling operations in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership:
- Oversee the operations of all showrooms, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to brand standards.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity and customer experience.
- Monitor and optimize inventory management, ensuring the right mix of gold, diamond, and silver jewellery across stores.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards, including hallmarking and BIS certifications.
2. P&L Accountability:
- Take full ownership of the companys P&L, driving revenue growth and cost optimization.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring alignment with the companys financial goals.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to achieve profitability targets.
- Monitor key financial metrics such as gross margin, operating profit, and inventory turnover
3. Topline Growth and Achievement:
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve topline growth targets across all showrooms.
- Drive sales performance by optimizing pricing, promotions, and product mix.
- Identify new revenue opportunities, including upselling, cross-selling, and premium collections.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align operational strategies with brand campaigns and customer acquisition efforts.
4. New Store Expansion:
- Lead the planning and execution of new store openings, including site selection, store design, and operational setup.
- Develop a scalable expansion strategy to enter new markets and regions across India.
- Ensure seamless integration of new stores into existing operations, maintaining consistency in customer experience and brand standards.
- Monitor the performance of new stores and implement strategies to achieve break-even and profitability targets.
5. Customer Service Excellence:
- Champion a customer-centric culture across all showrooms, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Implement customer feedback mechanisms to continuously improve service quality.
- Resolve escalated customer issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Train and empower store staff to deliver personalized and memorable customer experiences.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team, including regional managers, store managers, and support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and develop future leaders within the organization, ensuring a strong talent pipeline.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to drive employee engagement and productivity.
7. Strategic Collaboration:
- Work closely with the CEO and other C-suite executives to align operational strategies with the companys overall vision and goals.
- Collaborate with the design and merchandising teams to ensure the right product mix and inventory levels.
- Partner with the IT team to leverage technology for operational efficiency, including CRM, ERP, and inventory management systems.
- Support the CEO in investor relations, presenting operational performance and growth strategies to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: MBA or equivalent degree in Business Administration, Operations, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in retail operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., COO, VP Operations) in a large Indian and (or) international organisation
- Proven experience in the jewellery or luxury retail industry is a plus but not a must
- Demonstrated success in scaling operations, driving topline growth, and managing P&L for a large organization.
