The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the company's daily operational and manufacturing functions, ensuring efficient production, regulatory compliance, supply chain optimization, and cross-functional alignment across pharma and chemical verticals. This leadership role requires a hands-on, strategic thinker with proven expertise in managing manufacturing operations, EHS, quality, and cross-functional teams in highly regulated environments. API business across international markets with a special focus in Domestic Markets The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in global API marketing, strong business development acumen, and a proven ability to lead teams and forge long-term strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Drive end-to-end manufacturing operations across pharma and chemical divisions.
- Optimize plant performance with a focus on productivity, safety, cost control, and efficiency.
- Lead expansion, technology upgradation, and operational excellence initiatives.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Collaborate with the Board to define and implement business strategies.
- Translate corporate goals into actionable plans across operations, projects, and departments.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to measure performance and ensure continuous improvement.
Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure strict adherence to GMP, GLP, GxP, and relevant regulatory requirements (USFDA, MHRA, EUGMP, etc.).
- Oversee QA/QC and EHS functions to maintain high standards in product quality and environmental safety.
People & Culture:
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior leadership teams across departments.
- Build a performance-driven and safety-conscious organizational culture.
- Ensure alignment of HR, Finance, Procurement, and Engineering functions with operational goals.
Supply Chain & Cost Management:
- Oversee procurement, logistics, inventory, and demand planning.
- Improve cost structures and drive profitability through lean manufacturing practices.
Projects & CAPEX:
- Manage new capex projects and modernization of existing facilities.
- Ensure timely completion of brownfield/greenfield projects with proper budgeting.
Key Requirements:
- Education: B.E./B.Tech (Chemical/Pharma/Mechanical) + MBA preferred.
- Experience: 15-20 years in Pharma or Specialty Chemical manufacturing; minimum 5 years in a leadership/COO/Director role.
- Proven track record of managing multi-plant operations and large teams.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (GMP, ISO, EHS).
- Experience with digital transformation, SAP/ERP systems, and lean methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Exposure to international markets or regulatory audits (USFDA, EUGMP, etc.)
- Change management and process reengineering expertise.
- Strategic thinker with operational agility.
