Chief Operating Officer - IoT (Nigeria - Relocation/Hybrid)


1. Operational Excellence & Process Optimization

- Map Out & Improve Workflows: Lead a comprehensive review of all core operational workflows, from field installations and maintenance to project handovers and supply chain logistics. Identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and failure points to redesign for maximum efficiency and scalability.

- Optimize Processes: Embed a culture of continuous improvement by establishing and enforcing standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and project delivery frameworks (e.g., installation checklists, QA/QC protocols). Drive the elimination of rework and "fire-fighting" to ensure on-time, on-quality, and on-budget delivery.

- Create Templates & Documentation: Develop a centralized repository of operational knowledge, including standardized project plans, technical manuals, client reporting templates, and training materials. This ensures consistency, reduces reliance on tribal knowledge, and accelerates the onboarding of new team members and partners.

2. Technical Leadership & Systems Architecture

- Act as the executive authority on the company's core technology stack, providing oversight of hardware (sensors, devices), firmware, connectivity, and data integrity.

Champion the reliability, accuracy, and scalability of the monitoring platform, leading initiatives for device testing, certification, and lifecycle management.

- Stay abreast of emerging technologies (e.g., edge computing, AI-driven analytics) to inform the technology roadmap and maintain a competitive edge.

3. Organizational Design & Accountability

- Design & Implement Accountability Matrix: Define and implement a clear operational structure with unambiguous roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths. Create a RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrix or similar framework to ensure every critical function has clear ownership.

- Translate strategic goals into actionable KPIs for the technical and project teams, establishing dashboards to monitor progress and drive data-based decision-making.

- Instill a performance discipline where managers are held accountable for their team's results, supporting HR in workforce planning and competency development.

4. Product Growth & New Market Expansion

- Partner with the strategy and commercial teams to operationalize the expansion of the product portfolio. This includes identifying new use cases and ensuring new solutions are designed for manufacturability, scalability, and ease of support.

- Lead the operational and technical build-out for the company's entry into the direct-to-consumer (B2C) market, including the design of scalable fulfillment, installation, after-sales support, and customer experience models.

- Operationalize geographic expansion by developing replicable deployment models and ensuring asset, inventory, and logistics readiness for new regions and countries.

5. Leadership & Culture

- Serve as a hands-on leader and culture carrier, fostering a high-performance environment built on accountability, collaboration, and execution discipline.

- Mentor and develop the operations and technical leadership team, focusing on coaching, clear goal-setting, and reducing team fatigue through better planning and systems.

- Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring that operational improvements directly enhance the end-user experience.
