Role : Chief Operating Officer (COO) - EPC & Real Estate Construction
About the Role :
We are seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead, transform, and institutionalize a large-scale EPC and Real Estate execution platform in India.
This is a pure execution leadership role designed for a seasoned construction professional who excels at building high-performing teams, delivering complex projects, implementing systems, and driving operational excellence.
The COO will be responsible for :
- Leading execution across all current and future projects
- Driving excellence in cost, quality, timelines, safety, and client satisfaction
- Institutionalizing systems, dashboards, and governance frameworks
- Building organizational credibility with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
- Transforming execution from personality-driven operations to systems-driven delivery
- Mentoring and developing the next generation of project leaders
Key Responsibilities :
1. Project Execution & Delivery Excellence :
- Lead execution across all active and upcoming projects
- Ensure milestone adherence and predictable project delivery
- Establish strong site governance and escalation mechanisms
- Drive project closure, handover, and defect liability management
- Foster a zero-tolerance culture for safety, quality, and compliance
- Reduce execution risks and delivery variances across projects
2. Program Management & PMO Leadership :
- Build and strengthen the enterprise PMO function
- Drive planning and scheduling through Primavera, MS Project, and 4D/5D planning tools
- Manage resource allocation, sequencing, and cross-project priorities
- Establish dashboard-driven reporting and project intelligence systems
- Implement rigorous daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly review processes
3. Contracts, Commercials & Claims Management :
- Oversee enterprise-wide contract administration
- Lead claims preparation, negotiation, recovery, and settlement processes
- Manage variation orders, EOTs, certifications, and commercial risk mitigation
- Drive subcontractor governance and commercial discipline
- Eliminate margin leakages through structured controls and processes
- Handle disputes and settlements with a recovery-focused approach
4. Construction Technology & Digital Transformation :
Drive adoption of modern construction technologies including :
- Building Information Modeling (BIM) 3D, 4D & 5D
- Digital Twin technologies
- AI & Machine Learning for project monitoring and risk prediction
- Drone-based surveying and photogrammetry
- IoT-enabled site monitoring and safety systems
- Modular construction and prefabrication methodologies
- Lean Construction principles and Last Planner Systems
- Green Building and Sustainability Standards (IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, EDGE)
5. Client & Stakeholder Management :
- Serve as the senior escalation authority for key clients
- Strengthen reputation for execution excellence and delivery discipline
- Build trusted relationships with consultants, architects, PMCs, and government authorities
- Ensure predictable and fair engagement with contractors and suppliers
6. Talent Development & Organizational Culture :
- Build and mentor future execution leaders
- Develop a performance-driven, meritocratic culture
- Create scalable systems and institutional processes
- Attract and retain high-potential construction professionals
Candidate Profile :
Experience & Background :
- 25+ years of experience in EPC and Real Estate Construction
- Minimum 10 years in senior execution leadership roles
- Proven track record of managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
- Strong expertise in high-rise residential, premium commercial, and mixed-use developments
- Experience with leading EPC or construction organizations preferred
- Deep understanding of PMO structures and program management
- Exposure to modern construction technologies and digital tools
- Demonstrated success in turning around and stabilizing challenging project environments
