Job Summary:
- We are seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (20+ years experience, Master's mandatory) to provide comprehensive strategic and operational leadership for the University in Dehradun.
- The ideal candidate will collaborate with the President to formulate and implement the strategic plan, ensuring a healthy P&L statement, financial stability, and scalable marketing reach.
- Key responsibilities include leading institutional planning for academic growth and infrastructure expansion, ensuring strict compliance with statutory bodies (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, etc.), overseeing all day-to-day academic and administrative operations, and driving national/global external relations and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities and Executive Leadership Deliverables:
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development:
- Collaborate with the President and senior leadership in formulating and implementing the University's comprehensive strategic plan.
- Develop policies and frameworks in alignment with mandatory statutory regulations and accreditation bodies (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, PCI, NCTE, COA, INC etc.
- Lead institutional planning for measurable academic growth, research development, infrastructure expansion, and global collaborations, while ensuring operational excellence across all departments.
Financial Oversight & Resource Management:
- Ensure a healthy P&L statement, financial stability, and oversee the implementation of a scalable marketing strategy with desired reach.
- Collaborate with finance and accounts for effective budget planning and monitoring, ensuring financial discipline and compliance with statutory audit requirements.
- Oversee development and maintenance of physical infrastructure, including academic blocks, hostels, libraries, laboratories, and recreational spaces.
Academic & Administrative Coordination:
- Provide leadership and oversight for day-to-day academic and administrative operations of all Schools, Colleges, and non-academic support departments.
- Promote research, innovation, collaborations, and faculty development programs to demonstrably enhance academic quality and output.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on academic quality, student experience, and institutional accountability across all verticals.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure strict compliance with statutory bodies (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, PCI, COA, NCTE, INC etc.), overseeing the accuracy of records for all statutory correspondences and approvals.
- Support the President in convening meetings of statutory bodies (Board of Management, Academic Council, Finance Committee) and ensuring effective implementation of all resolutions.
- Prepare and present institutional reports (Annual Report, Compliance Reports, Audit Reports, Accreditation Self-Studies) to stakeholders.
External Relations & Partnerships:
- Represent the University in national/international academic, industry, and government forums to enhance institutional reputation and visibility.
- Establish collaborations with national and international universities, industries, and research organizations to drive initiatives for student/faculty exchange programs, joint research, and collaborative projects.
- Engage alumni, donors, and funding agencies for capital expenditure and institutional growth initiatives.
Student Affairs & Campus Life:
- Oversee student Admissions, Training & Placements, Examinations, and all core student related processes.
- Promote an inclusive, safe, and vibrant campus environment, encouraging cultural, sports, and co-curricular activities.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree (mandatory).
Experience: 20+ years of progressive experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., COO, Vice President, Registrar).
Compliance: Mandatory expertise in statutory regulations and accreditation frameworks (UGC, AICTE, NAAC, etc.
Financial Acumen: Proven experience ensuring a healthy P&L statement, financial stability, and effective budget planning and monitoring.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to Collaborate with the President and senior leadership and Lead institutional planning.
Preferred Skills: Ph.D qualification.
- Direct experience in leading an institutional accreditation cycle (e.g., NAAC A++ or NBA).
- Prior experience in the establishment or scaling of global academic collaborations.
- Expertise in higher education marketing strategy and student enrollment management systems
