Job Responsibilities: - Advise the Management on matters related to Environment, Health and Safety with primary focus on the Occupational Health. - Occupational Health Physician is entrusted with maintaining and organizing all activities which are related to the Occupational health. - Maintenance and utilization of all medical equipment including maintenance and recording of all medical stock inventory i.e., medicines, vaccines etc. - Administration of timely first aid and treatment to the injured/ill: all permanent workmen, contractor workmen and staff/execs/managers on site. - Management of paramedics and ambulance drivers including their roles and responsibilities. - Health Surveillance (Pre placement, Periodic and Exit Medical Examination) of all . - Identification of work-related health risks at site and any deterioration of health of employees due to occupational hazards. - Monitoring of communicable diseases and personal hygiene among employees. - Organize off site availability of emergency medical care including liaison with other hospitals. - Assessment of Occupational illnesses: a. Obtain and document patient histories, with an emphasis on occupation, differential diagnosis, and exposure; b. Identify non-occupational factors that may contribute to occupational illness or injury; c. Determine if a person has a health condition that increases their risk from exposure to chemical, physical or biological agents; d. Perform complete or focused physical examinations and select appropriate diagnostic studies as indicated; e. Identify the relationship between a patients symptoms, injuries or illness and work; f. Diagnose and manage occupational illnesses and injuries, according to accepted guidelines and with the help of consultants in related disciplines when indicated. - Evaluate and treat medical conditions commonly seen in general medical practice; a. Use and maintain a recordkeeping system with emphasis on confidentiality; b. Identify the need for case management interventions in cases of sickness absence; c. Conduct assessments of employees health, disability and case management needs; d. Provide medical case management consistent with local regulatory requirements and company policies; e. Assess fitness for duty and achieve appropriate return to work outcomes; assess the health and safety enhancement needs of employees and implement related programmes. - Conduct clinical evaluations to assess level of impairment and fitness for duty, in compliance with local regulatory requirements. - Health Promotion and Well being: Prepare, conduct and assures implementation of periodic health educational and risk communication programs. - To provide professional assistance and guidance to the employees on health related issues. - Reviews and monitors workplace exposure in relation to diseases and exposure to employees. - Occupational Health and Hygiene monitoring equipment's: Plans / coordinates to procure / maintain / upgrade occupational health and hygiene monitoring equipment's. - Assist the organisation on health aspects related to certifications like ISO-14001, OHSAS-18001, etc - Monitor yearly Revenue Budget and take approval or Capital Investment with justification for ensuring Health of employees. - Review all new projects, modification, expansion of existing facilities/sites for ensuring incorporation and implementation of all requirements (statutory and technical) towards Health. - Review of documents such as SOPs, Departmental Manuals and other related reports time to time as per the requirement. - Advise the client and all other contract manufacturing sites for ensuring Health requirements. - Monitor and ensure compliance of established procedures and systems for Health. - Review EHS data, evaluate EHS systems and outcomes of EHS audits related to health on a regular basis. - Maintain Occupational Health Center and health records as per statute and as per the provisions of Factories Act & Factories Rules. - Conduct OHC Audits on periodical basis across all units to strengthen the standards in order to promote & maintain the health of the worker on higher degree possible. - Help the management in providing quality of health services in all aspects in order to enhance productivity & quality of Outcome of the worker. - Providing Individual, comprehensive counselling to the workers for their concerns related to the health which in turn enhances the mental health.h - Adherence to the company policies & SOP's will try to help the management to Reduce the financial burden ie Procurement of medical equipment's, Medicines, planning of Annual/ Periodical /preemployment Medical checks as per the Factories act 1948. - Shop floor monitoring to identify Occupational health hazards. - Maintain a continuous Coordination between EHS, HR to strengthen the Occupational health department. - Occupational health surveillance.
