Description: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead end-to-end growth for a high-potential D2C FMCG/consumer brand, scaling from strong fundamentals to breakout, category-leading momentum.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and grown a D2C FMCG brand from scratch, understands performance marketing and brand building equally, and can create a predictable growth engine across channels.
Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)
- Build a full-funnel marketing engine that drives profitable growth (revenue + contribution margin)
- Strengthen brand positioning and creative consistency across all consumer touchpoints
- Scale customer acquisition with increasing efficiency (CAC control, LTV uplift, ROAS discipline.
- Improve retention, repeat rates, and CRM performance
- Establish a high-performing marketing org with strong execution cadence and accountability
Core Responsibilities
1) Growth & Performance Marketing (Full-Funnel Ownership)
- Own P&L for marketing: CAC, ROAS, MER, contribution margin, and growth targets
- Scale acquisition across Meta, Google/YouTube, affiliates, influencer, marketplaces (where relevant)
- Design a robust experimentation system: creative testing, landing page CRO, offer strategy, funnel optimization
- Build a scalable measurement stack: attribution logic, incrementality thinking, dashboards, reporting cadence
2) Brand Strategy & Integrated Campaigns
- Lead brand positioning: category differentiation, messaging, narrative, and brand consistency
- Own the campaign calendar: product launches, tentpole moments, promotions, and always-on content
- Ensure creative excellence across content, design, video, and copybuilt to convert and to build brand
3) Product Launch & Category Expansion
- Drive GTM strategy for new product launches: pricing, proposition, hero messaging, claim hierarchy
- Partner with Product/NPD for insight-led innovation and consumer feedback loops
- Plan channel-specific launch playbooks (D2C site, marketplaces, social commerce, etc.
4) Retention, CRM & Community
- Own lifecycle marketing: email, WhatsApp, SMS flows + segmentation and personalization
- Improve repeat purchase rate, cohorts, referrals, and loyalty programs
- Build a strong community/influencer ecosystem with brand-safe storytelling
5) Team Leadership & Agency Management
- Hire and lead a high-performing team: Performance, Brand, Creative, Content, CRM, Influencer/PR
- Manage agencies/partners and ensure tight briefs, fast execution, and measurable outcomes
- Implement operating rhythm: weekly growth reviews, monthly business reviews, quarterly strategy
Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable):
- 8+ years in marketing/growth with significant leadership ownership
- Proven track record of growing a D2C FMCG/consumer brand from scratch (not just maintaining scale)
- Strong command over performance marketing + brand building (balanced operator, not one-sided)
Deep understanding of:
- CAC/LTV economics, funnel metrics, cohort retention
- Creative testing frameworks and conversion optimization
- GTM strategy for new product launches
- Excellent stakeholder management with founders/leadership,high ownership mindset
Good-to-Have
- Strong experience in skincare/beauty/personal care (or adjacent premium FMCG)
- Marketplace growth exposure (Amazon/Nykaa/Flipkart) and/or omnichannel expansion
- Strong consumer insight and research-led decision making
