Key Responsibilities Explained
IT & Digital Strategy
Define and implement a comprehensive IT and digital strategy focused on:
- Operational efficiency
- Revenue growth
- Cost optimization
- Align technology initiatives with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
Airport Operations Technology
Oversee IT systems supporting:
- Airside operations (apron safety, aircraft movement)
- Landside operations (terminal operations, asset utilization, turnaround management)
- Ensure systems are delivered on time, within budget, and with minimal disruptions.
Business & Commercial Applications
Manage technology platforms for:
- Airlines, cargo, ground handling, fuelling, and general aviation
- Retail, duty-free, food & beverage, lounges, hotels, parking, and advertising
- Ensure smooth system performance with minimal manual work and SLA breaches.
Passenger Experience Systems
Lead systems that directly impact passengers such as:
- Check-in and boarding (CUTE, CUPPS, CUSS, e-Boarding)
- Baggage handling systems
- DigiYatra, flight information displays (FIDS), and collaborative decision systems (CDM)
- Focus on improving speed, convenience, accuracy, and overall passenger satisfaction.
Infrastructure & Communication Systems
Own and manage:
- Data centres, networks, storage, backup
- CCTV, building management systems, public address systems
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of infrastructure.
Vendor & Outsourcing Management
- Lead large outsourced IT and digital contracts.
- Review vendor performance, manage SLAs, resolve escalations, and ensure service continuity.
- Mentor vendor teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Budget & Financial Management
- Manage direct IT budgets of approximately 1020 Cr annually.
- Influence and oversee additional long-term outsourced contracts worth 50150 Cr.
- Ensure cost optimization without compromising service quality.
Information Security & Compliance
- Ensure robust cybersecurity and compliance with statutory laws and group IT policies.
- Minimize non-compliance, security breaches, and operational risks.
Change Management
- Drive technology-led change across departments.
- Work closely with HR, finance, procurement, and operations to ensure adoption of new systems and processes.
- Enable both short-term improvements and long-term transformation.
Leadership & Team Management
- Build, inspire, and retain a high-performing IT and digital team.
- Lead by example, promote innovation, and embody organizational values.
- Act as a digital transformation evangelist across the airport.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal: Airport leadership, operations, finance, HR, project management, and business teams.
- External: Technology vendors, system integrators, startups, and strategic partners.
- The CIO ensures alignment, collaboration, and smooth execution across all stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
- Engineering graduate with MBA.
- 20+ years of experience in large-scale technology leadership roles (preferably aviation, airports, manufacturing, or engineering).
Strong knowledge of:
- IT infrastructure, applications, cloud, cybersecurity
- System integration and software lifecycle management
- Relevant certifications in IT, cybersecurity, cloud, project management, and IT service management.
