The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as the principal financial strategist and steward Reporting directly to the Managing Director and the Board, the CFO will lead all financial operations, drive long-term financial planning, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial leadership to support the company's growth objectives in domestic and international markets. This is a critical leadership role requiring a blend of operational finance expertise and strategic vision in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Planning
- Partner with the MD and Board to define and execute the company's financial strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead annual budgeting, mid-term planning, and long-range financial forecasting processes.
- Provide strategic insights on capital allocation, investment decisions, and business expansion initiatives.
- Drive profitability analysis and identify levers for margin improvement across business units.
2. Financial Reporting & Controls
- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements - standalone and consolidated - as per Ind AS / IFRS.
- Ensure robust internal controls framework and drive continuous improvements in accounting processes.
- Manage statutory audit, internal audit, and cost audit relationships; ensure timely closure.
- Maintain integrity of the financial reporting ecosystem including ERP systems.
3. Treasury, Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage working capital efficiently to support operations and growth.
- Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and debt management.
- Optimize the capital structure and evaluate financing options (equity, debt, ECB, etc.).
- Lead forex risk management strategy, including hedging policies for export/import transactions.
4. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with direct and indirect tax obligations - Income Tax, GST, Customs.
- Manage transfer pricing policies and documentation for cross-border transactions.
- Liaise with tax consultants, advisors, and regulatory authorities.
- Keep the organization apprised of changes in tax laws and their business impact.
5. Investor Relations & Board Reporting
- Prepare high-quality Board presentations, investor decks, and management review reports.
- Manage investor/analyst communications as relevant to any listed entity obligations.
- Support fundraising, M&A due diligence, and strategic investment evaluations.
6. Leadership & Team Development
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team across accounting, treasury, taxation, and MIS.
- Foster a culture of financial discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives in finance - automation, analytics, and ERP optimization.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA) - mandatory.
- MBA (Finance) or CMA / CFA - an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 18-25 years of progressive finance leadership experience.
- Prior CFO or VP Finance / Finance Director experience - preferably 5+ years.
- Strong background in manufacturing sector; capital goods / engineering industry experience preferred.
- Exposure to international business, export finance, and multi-currency operations.
- Listed company (BSE/NSE) experience is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in Ind AS / IFRS financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Strong command of taxation - both direct and indirect.
- Financial modelling, M&A analytics, and business valuation capabilities.
