Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping the companys financial strategy, driving profitability, ensuring governance, and enabling sustainable growth. The role demands a seasoned finance leader with deep experience across controllership, FP&A, treasury, taxation, risk management, and business partnering.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Lead long-term financial planning, capital allocation, and business forecasting aligned with the companys growth ambitions.
- Partner with the CEO and Board on strategic initiatives, M&A, fundraising, and enterprise transformation.
- Provide actionable insights to drive margin expansion, cost optimization, and revenue growth.
2. Controllership, Compliance & Governance
- Oversee accounting, audits (internal & statutory), financial reporting, and adherence to Ind-AS/IFRS.
- Ensure robust internal controls, risk frameworks, and compliance with regulatory requirements (Income Tax, GST, Companies Act, SEBI as applicable).
- Drive best-in-class corporate governance and strengthen financial discipline across the organisation.
3. FP&A & Performance Management
- Lead annual operating plans, budgeting cycles, and monthly/quarterly performance reviews.
- Embed data-driven decision-making through dashboards, KPIs, and financial models.
- Partner with business units to drive P&L performance and working capital improvements.
4. Treasury, Capital & Cash Flow Management
- Manage banking relationships, cash flow planning, investments, and capital structure optimization.
- Oversee fundraising, debt management, and negotiations for credit facilities.
- Implement hedging strategies and foreign exchange risk management (if applicable).
5. Business Partnering & Commercial Excellence
- Collaborate with sales, supply chain, operations, HR, and marketing to drive commercial outcomes.
- Lead pricing strategy, cost analysis, procurement negotiations, and financial evaluation of new projects.
- Provide financial insights for new market entry, capacity expansion, and product launches.
6. Technology, Digital Finance & Process Excellence
- Drive finance transformation through ERP upgrades, automation, BI tools, and shared service models.
- Strengthen operational excellence through continuous process improvements.
- Champion digital capabilities within the finance function.
7. Investor Relations & Stakeholder Management
- Manage Board communication, investor reporting, AGM preparation, and financial disclosures (for listed or PE-backed companies).
- Ensure transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team.
- Establish strong succession planning and capability-building frameworks.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience
- 15 - 25 years of progressive finance leadership roles across large organisations or high-growth companies.
- Proven success in managing full P&L, leading finance transformation, and partnering with CXOs.
- Experience in M&A, fundraising, investor management, and strategic planning is preferred.
- Exposure to multi-business or multi-geography operations is an advantage.
Qualifications:
- CA or MBA Finance from top institutions preferred.
- Additional certifications (CFA, CPA, CMA) are a plus.
