Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Reporting To: Managing Director
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial management, capital planning, treasury, investor relations, fundraising, and regulatory compliance functions of a rapidly growing Housing Finance Company (HFC). The CFO will play a critical role in driving sustainable growth, optimizing capital structure, strengthening governance, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the company's expansion strategy.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in NBFCs, Housing Finance Companies, Banks, or Financial Services institutions with proven expertise in debt raising, treasury management, investor relations, financial planning, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Partner with the MD & CEO and Board to formulate and execute long-term business and financial strategies.
- Drive profitability, balance sheet optimization, capital efficiency, and shareholder value creation.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business expansion, product diversification, and market growth.
- Lead annual budgeting, business planning, forecasting, and financial performance management.
Fund Raising & Capital Management:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fund-raising strategies to support business growth.
- Raise debt through diversified channels.
- Manage relationships with Banks, Financial Institutions, Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, Pension Funds, and other lending partners.
- Lead equity fundraising initiatives including private equity, strategic investments, rights issues, and public market transactions where applicable.
- Optimize capital structure and cost of funds.
Investor Relations:
- Serve as the primary interface with investors, analysts, rating agencies, lenders, and financial institutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective investors.
- Prepare and present investor presentations, quarterly updates, earnings discussions, and strategic communications.
- Lead due diligence processes for fundraising and strategic transactions.
- Drive transparent communication and enhance investor confidence.
Treasury Management:
- Oversee treasury operations, liquidity management, asset-liability management (ALM), and cash flow planning.
- Ensure adequate liquidity and funding availability to support business requirements.
- Monitor borrowing costs and implement strategies for reducing cost of funds.
- Manage investment portfolio and surplus funds deployment.
- Ensure compliance with ALM guidelines prescribed by NHB and RBI.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, MIS, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
- Analyze key business metrics including:
1. Net Interest Margin (NIM)
2. Return on Assets (ROA)
3. Return on Equity (ROE)
4. Cost-to-Income Ratio
5. Capital Adequacy
6. Asset Quality Metrics
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve operational and financial performance.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with Ind AS and applicable regulations.
- Maintain robust internal controls, governance standards, and risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with RBI, NHB, Companies Act, SEBI regulations, taxation laws, and other statutory requirements.
- Lead statutory audits, internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews.
Risk Management:
- Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Business teams to identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Oversee capital adequacy planning, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Monitor market, liquidity, interest rate, and credit concentration risks.
Stakeholder & Board Management:
- Present financial performance, strategic initiatives, and risk assessments to the Board and Committees.
- Manage relationships with auditors, legal advisors, regulators, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Support M&A, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and expansion initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
- Chartered Accountant (Mandatory).
- 18 - 25 years of progressive finance leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a CFO / Deputy CFO / Head Finance role.
- Strong experience within Housing Finance Companies, NBFCs, Retail Lending Institutions, Banks, or Financial Services organizations.
