Co-founded by Mr. Vijay Mahajan, Mr. Deep Joshi and Dr.Sankar Datta, in 1987, as a Section 25 Not-for-Profit Company. between 1987 and 1992, IGS helped all livelihood activities for various PRADAN projects e.g. household poultry-rearing, cottage mushroom cultivation and light engineering workshop in the Kesla block, Hoshangabad district, MP; leather tanning and cotton handloom weaving in the Barabanki district, UP and tasar cocoon rearing and silk reeling and weaving the Godda district, now in Jharkhand. Between 1992 and 1995, IGS became dormant, because of the diversity of products, all with different end markets and the distance among the locations, which made it very hard for a thinly staffed entity based in one location, to perform the marketing function effectively. Mr. Vijay Mahajan set up BASIX as a New Generation Livelihood Promotion Initiative in 1995. IGS was taken over by BASIX to use it as a primary channel for action research on various themes potential to impact livelihoods in a significant manner. IGS envisions an equitable world where the poor and marginalized in rural and urban areas, have access to livelihood opportunities on a sustainable basis, are prosperous and happy. The ideal incumbent would provide leadership in the overall governance of the organization, which includes both financial and non-financial management. S/he would come with significant experience business development, stakeholder management, grant management and team management. The successful candidate must have the intellectual makeup and leadership track record to lead the organizations programs. Roles &amp; Responsibilities The responsibilities for this role can be broadly categorized into two components- Non- financial and Financial management Non-Financial management- the broad areas are: - Governance - This includes: Planning &amp; organizing board meetings, ensuring compliance to all statutory norms applicable to the company. Another aspect is Business Governance where the incumbent would ensure completion of projects as per timelines, quality and costs agreed and compliance with Audit and Risk Management standards - Under Grant raising &amp; Fee based Business Development: The incumbent will raise grants for mission complaint projects as per the Business Plan, identify potential granting agencies and develop Business for Fee Income and project in compliance with the mission. - S/he will also Manage &amp; Build partnerships by attending and representing IGS in workshops, forums and conferences and look for collaborations. - Brand management- to use IGS and Basix brand in promoting public image and PR of IGS and BASIX - Knowledge sharing will be done by preparation of closure reports on projects and extraction of learnings and document for sharing with group. The incumbent will also develop scalable models in the direction of mission augment. - Under HR &amp;Admin responsibilities s/he will ensure systems of Assessing HR requirements, plan recruitment and capacity building for staff and will also ensure administration of organization in a complaint and beneficial manner for Group's mission support. Financial Management - The incumbent will Maintain and enhance corpus by creating surplus in the operations to add to corpus at least by 10% of the previous corpus outstanding and interest earned, and by creating Project Appraisal Committee for provisional approval for pursuing the project. - Development of Fee based Business is to be done by developing fee based business through continuous follow up of potential clients, bid opportunities etc. and lining up proposals for potential business opportunities particularly with the existing donors, corporate clients etc. - Another aspect is Managing Cash flows by ensuring preparation of cash flow statement, monthly and monitoring to identify areas of focus for recovery of receivables, reduction of costs etc. Also make special efforts to recover sticky receivables from time to time. The need for flexibility is required and the job holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed Must Haves: - Masters in Rural Management, Business Managements or any equivalent post graduate degree with minimum 15 years of experience in experience in rural development, rural livelihoods or related areas of which at least 3 years have been in a leadership role. - Past experience of managing multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams across geographies. - Past proven experience in managing area of operations, business development and dealing with donors and corporate social responsibility funds. - Experience in leading multi-location projects with proven experience of successful negotiation and management of stakeholders and relevant partnerships - Excellent communication skills both written and oral with fluency in English.
