Role Overview:
As the Chief Credit Officer, you will serve as the primary architect of the organization's credit strategy, overseeing the end-to-end credit lifecycle in a high-growth environment. Based in Gurgaon, you will lead the credit function to balance aggressive business expansion with prudent risk management. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, the CEO, and cross-functional leadership teams to define risk appetite, optimize credit policies, and ensure the long-term health of the loan portfolio. By driving data-backed decision-making and fostering a culture of rigorous underwriting, you will directly influence the company's profitability, regulatory compliance, and market reputation, ensuring sustainable growth in a competitive financial landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement comprehensive credit policies and underwriting standards to ensure high-quality asset origination across diverse product segments.
- Lead the credit appraisal process by evaluating complex credit proposals, ensuring that all lending decisions align with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee proactive portfolio management by monitoring asset quality, identifying early warning signals, and implementing corrective actions to minimize non-performing assets.
- Collaborate with the business and product teams to design innovative credit products that capture market share while maintaining stringent risk controls.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and rating agencies, to uphold the highest standards of governance and transparency.
- Mentor and scale a high-performing credit team, fostering a culture of analytical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement in credit assessment methodologies.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing credit frameworks for large-scale financial portfolios, with a deep understanding of credit risk modeling and stress testing.
- Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and translate policy requirements into actionable operational workflows.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive consensus across diverse business units.
- Strong analytical acumen, with the capacity to synthesize large datasets into strategic insights that inform credit decisioning and business growth.
- A postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or an MBA from a premier institute, complemented by 15 - 22 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within the financial services sector.
- High adaptability to an on-site work environment in Gurgaon, maintaining a hands-on approach to leadership and team engagement.
