CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. CEEW runs 'Powering Livelihoods', in association with Villgro, catalysing a transformation of India's rural economy with clean energy solutions. The multi-million dollar initiative provides capital,technical, and sectoral growth support to social impact enterprises deploying clean energy-powered livelihood technologies to enable large-scale commercial deployments. While Villgro leads the enterprise acceleration under the programme, CEEW leads the sectoral acceleration. Sectoral acceleration includes evidence generation at scale, market research for such solutions, developing insights on financing and business models, engaging with key stakeholders (investors, financiers, policymakers) to disseminate the evidence and insights, build their confidence and unlock their support. PL has already enabled more than 11,000 technology deployments, supported more than 17,000 livelihoods, and helped increase aggregate annual revenue by 2.7x for the programme enterprises. In short, PL is the sectoral platform to mainstream clean energy for livelihoods. Job Duties and Accountabilities : Programme Management - Manage and lead the overall programme from the CEEW side, with minimal support and guidance from the Director - Powering Livelihoods. - Manage the programme timelines, budgets, donor expectations and reporting, and government relationships. - Actively contribute to the fundraising efforts for the programme. - Oversee the programme's public outreach Partnerships and stakeholder management - Build new partnerships and manage existing partnerships including with government departments, enterprises, and ecosystem stakeholders. - Lead partnerships with the state departments and various central ministries. - Keep a tab on the policy, technological developments in the clean energy for livelihoods sector within India and Global South. - Ensure proactive and regular communication with partners managing expectations and building mutual trust while ensuring transparency. - Lead senior stakeholder engagements at the national and subnational level. - Further CEEW's public profile while representing CEEW in external events. Research Management - Guide market research for various clean energy solutions for livelihoods. For example: RE-powered cold storages, solar looms, solar dryers, silk reeling machines, etc. - Characterising the market including identifying demand, market barriers and their solutions - Guide monitoring and evaluation process for the programme to facilitate evidence generation - Use the evidence generated from the commercial deployments, to unlock support for the enterprises from investors, financiers, policymakers and market enablers. - Guide the development of high quality engaging outputs as well as disseminate the generated evidence in the forms of reports, data portals, blogs, opinion pieces, videos, etc.with respective support from the outreach team at CEEW - Engage with key stakeholders to disseminate the evidence and to unlock support for programme enterprises and beyond. Management and Leadership - Take end-to-end ownership of the programme - Manage and mentor the entire programme team, guiding them on their careers - Lead by example Shortlisting Criteria : Key Skills - A graduate degree or a masters in engineering, economics, agriculture economics, development economics, public policy, energy economics, rural management or related disciplines - Should have good foundational knowledge in issues concerning livelihoods and/or energy access - Ability to identify technical and policy issues, interpret data, develop quantitative methods, and identify/ develop creative solutions - Good written and oral communication skills; Excellent writing skills, with the ability to summarise and communicate the insights/findings as policy memos, reports and presentations - Strong networking skills - Ability to use MS Office application suite including MS Excel - Ability to represent the research and the organisation at various national and international platforms - Ability to handle and manage diverse teams and having people management/ mentorship skills - Experience in conducting impact evaluation studies and field surveys is desirable. - Ability to drive economic and financial analysis for techno-economic evaluations - Desirable: Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals/book chapters Experience - Overall experience of 9-12 years in agriculture, livelihood, energy access or any related sector. - Experience in delegating and managing workload across a team, as the hire will be expected to manage multiple projects and multiple team members simultaneously. - Experience in building and leading a team. Personality - Ability to drive strategic projects. - Ability to adapt to new environment and deliver under tight deadlines - Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output. - Ability to effectively work in a team - Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the big picture. - Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve. - Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
