Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Management
- Develop and execute R&D and product improvement strategies in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFTs), vendors, and customers to define new product development (NPD) and continuous improvement roadmaps.
- Plan and monitor budgets, resources, and timelines for R&D and factory trials, ensuring cost optimization and efficiency.
Compound Development & Innovation
- Lead the design and development of new rubber compounds by selecting appropriate raw materials, fillers, curatives, and accelerators.
- Oversee laboratory trials, factory process validation, and performance testing to ensure compounds meet quality and performance standards.
- Introduce innovative test methods and technologies to simulate and validate compound performance.
Product Improvement & Value Engineering
- Conduct cost optimization projects and implement value engineering initiatives to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
- Analyze customer feedback, field failures, and competitor benchmarking to identify opportunities for improving existing compounds.
- Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures for product and process excellence.
People & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the compounding team, driving performance, accountability, and professional growth.
- Conduct appraisals, provide constructive feedback, and build capability through training and skill development.
- Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Liaise with the purchase department and suppliers for timely procurement of raw materials.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment on compound development objectives and timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Polymer/Rubber Technology or equivalent. MBA preferred (specialization in Operations, R&D Management, or Supply Chain a plus).
Experience: 8 - 10 years in compound development, product design, or process optimization, with at least 3 - 4 years in a leadership/managerial role.
- Strong understanding of rubber technology, compounding processes, and material science.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, lead teams, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
