About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to spearhead our growth initiatives within the critical Government and Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) segment in the New Delhi region.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in end-to-end IT solution sales, a deep understanding of public sector procurement processes, and a strong network to drive significant revenue growth.
This is a high-impact role requiring a strategic mindset and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve ambitious business growth and revenue targets within the Government and PSU sector.
- Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities by actively tracking, monitoring, and responding to Tenders, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs) on platforms like GeM and other government e-procurement portals.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the public sector IT space.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation and qualification to negotiation and final contract closure.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, IT Heads, and procurement officials across various Central/State Government departments and PSUs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact, positioning the company as a trusted partner for IT infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
- Liaise with internal technical, finance, and delivery teams to ensure seamless proposal creation, project execution, and client satisfaction.
IT Solution Expertise
- Act as a solution-oriented professional with a strong working knowledge of core IT infrastructure solutions, including:
Server and Storage solutions (e.g., Enterprise Servers, SAN/NAS, Backup & Disaster Recovery).
Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, desktop virtualization).
Networking, Cloud, and Cybersecurity solutions will be an added advantage.
- Clearly articulate the value proposition of complex IT solutions, aligning them with the specific digital transformation and e-governance requirements of government entities.
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain an accurate and robust sales pipeline using CRM tools, providing regular forecasts and performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure all sales activities and contract submissions strictly adhere to Government/PSU procurement guidelines, compliance standards, and ethical practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Business Development or Sales, specifically targeting the Government and PSU sector in India.
- Track Record: Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and a history of successfully winning large-scale IT tenders/RFPs in the public sector.
Key Skills
- Strong Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, necessary for high-level client presentations and detailed tender/proposal writing.
- Negotiation & Closing: Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to close complex, high-value deals.
- Government Sales Acumen: Deep familiarity with the public sector procurement lifecycle, bidding processes (GeM, e-Tenders), and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Technical Understanding: Solid conceptual understanding of enterprise-level IT hardware and software solutions (Server, Storage, Virtualization, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or a relevant Master's Degree in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management is highly preferred.
Existing network and relationships within Central/State Government IT departments/PSUs in the New Delhi region
