Stable food - Category Manager
Role Overview
The Category Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the Product Portfolio Strategy and Private Brand Portfolio Strategy. This role involves defining sales and margin targets at the category and sub-category levels, managing vendor negotiations, optimizing assortment, and \ driving category growth through strategic planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Portfolio Strategy
- Classify brands based on sales contribution and margin mix into defined segments.
- Identify opportunities for new category introductions to enhance portfolio breadth.
2. Category & Sub-Category Target Setting
- Analyze market trends for each category to identify growth opportunities.
- Track category-wise sales trends and seasonal performance.
- Create seasonal and annual category calendars to drive feature and promotional planning.
- Set sales and performance targets for stores at category level.
3. Private Brand Portfolio Strategy
- Curate assortment selection for private brands based on market and customer insights.
- Determine pricing strategies and positioning for private brand offerings.
4. Master Data Management
- Oversee new article listing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
5. Space Planning & Merchandising
- Measure GMROF (Gross Margin Return on Floor) for categories and brands to optimize space allocation.
- Provide guidelines for planogram organization and feature planning.
- Manage visibility initiatives, FSU (Floor Standing Units) payments, and related income tracking.
6. Vendor Management & Negotiations
- Conduct vendor negotiations to secure favorable terms and build long-term partnerships.
Strategic & Interpersonal Skills:
- Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Negotiation: Building strong supplier relationships and securing favorable terms
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Working with marketing, sales and logistics
- Leadership & Team Development: Inspiring and guiding teams to execute category strategies
- Communication & Presentation: Articulating ideas clearly to stakeholders and senior management
Qualification:
- MBA in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain
- Experience in vendor negotiation, product assortment planning, and data analysis is highly valued
