Role Overview:
As a Category Manager for Food in Nigeria, you will serve as the strategic architect for our product portfolio, driving growth and market penetration in a dynamic FMCG landscape. Your day-to-day involves deep-diving into consumer insights, managing the end-to-end product lifecycle, and orchestrating cross-functional collaboration between sales, supply chain, and marketing teams. You will act as the primary custodian of the categorys P&L, ensuring that our offerings not only meet local consumer preferences but also outperform competitors. By aligning trade marketing initiatives with broader business objectives, you will directly influence market share expansion and enhance brand equity across the Nigerian market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive revenue growth and market share, ensuring our food portfolio remains competitive and relevant to the Nigerian consumer.
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from initial concept and market feasibility studies to launch and post-market performance analysis, to ensure high-impact product introductions.
- Collaborate closely with the trade marketing team to design and implement effective in-store visibility and promotional campaigns that maximize product off-take and shelf presence.
- Analyze complex market data and consumer trends to identify white-space opportunities, allowing the business to pivot quickly and capture emerging demand.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders and distributors to ensure seamless supply chain execution and optimal product availability across all retail channels.
- Oversee the category P&L, monitoring margins and pricing strategies to ensure sustainable profitability while maintaining a strong value proposition for our customers.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrate deep expertise in Category Management and FMCG Marketing, with a proven track record of managing food portfolios within the African market.
- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities to interpret market data and translate insights into actionable commercial strategies that drive business outcomes.
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to influence cross-functional teams and build long-term partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Showcase a high degree of adaptability and resilience, thriving in the fast-paced, often unpredictable nature of the Nigerian retail environment.
- Hold a Masters degree in Business Administration or a related field from a premier institute, providing a solid foundation in strategic management and financial acumen.
- Bring 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in the FMCG sector, demonstrating a consistent ability to deliver results in high-pressure, growth-oriented roles.
