Job Title: Category Head


Reporting To: COO


About the Role:


We are looking for a seasoned industry leader to head the Capital Equipment Category with full responsibility for business growth, profitability, portfolio strategy, and market expansion across India. The role requires deep domain expertise, industry relationships, and proven success in scaling industrial equipment businesses, specifically through trade channel.


Key Responsibilities:


1. P&L Ownership & Business Strategy


- Define and lead the strategic initiatives to steer company into leadership position in the space of product in the next 3-5 years


- Own end-to-end P&L for category


- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion in Retail and manufacturing industry.


- Lead demand planning and align supply chain with business goals


2. Product & Portfolio Leadership


- Define and optimize product portfolio


- Drive new product introduction and localization strategy


- Benchmark competition and ensure strong market positioning


- Focus on high-margin and technology-driven products


3. Sales & Channel Expansion


- Strengthen and expand dealer/distributor network across key clusters


- Build strong relationships with large factories, export houses, and institutional buyers


- Drive cluster-focused growth strategy across North, West, and South India


- Improve dealer profitability and engagement


4. Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy


- Track import trends, pricing, and competitor movements


- Develop pricing and margin optimization strategy


- Identify growth opportunities and white spaces


5. Leadership & Team Development


- Lead the category across all channels, working closely with the sales teams and service teams , supply chain.


- Build high-performance culture and strong execution discipline


- Drive cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Service, Sourcing/ manufacturing, marketing and finance.


6. Service & Customer Excellence


- Strengthen after-sales service and technical support network


- Implement trade friendly service policies and create dealer preference for brand.


- Improve machine uptime and customer satisfaction


Candidate Profile:


- 10 to 20 years of experience, with some exposure in Industrial Machines / Capital Equipment / Textile Machinery industry.


- Proven track record in leading a category / business unit with P&L ownership


- Commercially strong with pricing, margin, and business planning expertise


- Engineering background preferred (Mechanical / Textile)


- MBA preferred
