Role Overview:
As the Category Head for Non-Ferrous Metals, you will spearhead the end-to-end procurement and trading strategy for a high-impact portfolio. You will operate at the intersection of global commodity markets and internal supply chain operations, ensuring seamless material flow while optimizing cost structures. This role involves close collaboration with executive leadership, global suppliers, and cross-functional teams in finance and logistics to drive competitive advantage. By leveraging deep market intelligence and strategic sourcing initiatives, you will directly influence the company's bottom line, mitigate commodity price volatility, and ensure long-term supply security for our manufacturing and trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for non-ferrous metals to ensure cost-efficiency and supply chain resilience across all business units.
- Lead complex negotiations with global vendors and smelters to secure favorable pricing, volume commitments, and contractual terms that protect the organization from market fluctuations.
- Analyze global commodity market trends and macroeconomic indicators to formulate proactive hedging and pricing strategies that maximize profitability.
- Oversee inventory management and logistics planning to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing carrying costs and operational bottlenecks.
- Partner with the finance team to conduct rigorous cost-benefit analyses and financial modeling, ensuring all procurement activities align with the company's strategic financial objectives.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
- Cultivate and manage long-term relationships with key industry stakeholders, including miners, traders, and logistics partners, to gain competitive market insights.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in non-ferrous metal markets, including deep knowledge of pricing mechanisms, LME dynamics, and global supply-demand drivers.
- Proven ability to design and implement sophisticated procurement and sourcing frameworks that deliver measurable cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Exceptional analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to translate complex market data into actionable strategic finance decisions.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and managing high-stakes negotiations with global partners.
- Advanced proficiency in market research and risk management, with a track record of successfully navigating volatile commodity environments.
- A postgraduate degree in Management or a related field from a premier institute is highly preferred, complemented by 12 to 20 years of relevant experience in the metals or commodities industry.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment in Bangalore, demonstrating high adaptability to changing business priorities and global market shifts.
