Role Overview:

As the Category Head - Food & Beverages, you will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of our Food & Beverage portfolio in the Nigerian market. You will lead the development and execution of category strategies, working closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to optimize product assortment, pricing, promotion, and distribution.


This role requires a strong understanding of the Nigerian FMCG landscape, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics. You will collaborate with key account managers to build strong relationships with major retailers and distributors, ensuring optimal shelf space and visibility for our products.


Ultimately, you will be instrumental in increasing market share, brand equity, and overall business performance within the Food & Beverage category, impacting the lives of consumers by providing them with high-quality and affordable products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for the Food & Beverage portfolio in Nigeria, aligning with overall business objectives and market trends to maximize growth and profitability.

- Lead the development and execution of annual marketing plans, working closely with the marketing team to create impactful campaigns that drive brand awareness and consumer demand.

- Manage the product lifecycle, from new product development to product rationalization, ensuring a relevant and competitive product assortment that meets consumer needs and preferences.

- Analyze market data, consumer insights, and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth and innovation, providing actionable recommendations to the leadership team.

- Negotiate trade agreements and manage promotional budgets with key retailers and distributors to optimize shelf space, visibility, and sales performance.

- Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure efficient inventory management and product availability, minimizing stockouts and maximizing customer satisfaction.

- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Food & Beverage category, tracking key metrics such as sales, market share, and profitability, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including retailers, distributors, and internal teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful category strategies in the FMCG industry.

- Proven expertise in FMCG marketing, including brand management, advertising, and promotion.

- Strong sales and key account management skills, with a track record of building and maintaining relationships with major retailers and distributors.

- Excellent trade marketing and channel management skills, with a deep understanding of the Nigerian retail landscape.

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market data and consumer insights to drive business decisions.

- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.

- Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing market conditions and business priorities.

- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in category management, sales, or marketing roles within the FMCG industry.
