Category Head - FMCG/Staple/F&V

Role Overview:

We are seeking three seasoned Category Heads to lead our FMCG, Staples, and Fruits & Vegetables (F&V) divisions on a Pan-India scale. Based in Hyderabad, these leadership roles are designed for industry veterans with 18 to 27 years of experience who possess a deep understanding of the Indian retail and supply chain landscape. You will be responsible for defining the long-term category strategy, overseeing end-to-end sourcing operations, and driving profitability across diverse product lines. You will work closely with cross-functional leadership, including supply chain, marketing, and finance teams, to ensure seamless execution and market penetration. Your strategic decisions will directly influence our market share, customer satisfaction, and the overall bottom-line growth of the organization, setting the benchmark for excellence in the retail sector.

Key Responsibilities:

- Formulate and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive revenue growth and market leadership for FMCG, Staples, or F&V segments.

- Lead large-scale sourcing and procurement initiatives to ensure competitive pricing, consistent quality, and supply chain resilience across all regions.

- Optimize merchandising and assortment planning to enhance customer experience and maximize inventory turnover rates.

- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key national vendors and manufacturers to secure favorable terms and exclusive product access.

- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to pivot strategies proactively and maintain a competitive edge.

- Mentor and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence to achieve ambitious business targets.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end category management, with a proven track record of scaling large-scale retail or FMCG portfolios.

- Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills, capable of navigating complex supply chains and securing strategic partnerships.

- Strong analytical acumen to interpret complex data sets, drive pricing strategies, and optimize P&L performance.

- Superior leadership and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to influence senior stakeholders and lead diverse, cross-functional teams effectively.

- Excellent communication skills to articulate vision and strategy clearly across all levels of the organization.

- A postgraduate degree from a premier business school is highly preferred, reflecting a strong foundation in business management and strategic thinking.

- Ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, with a willingness to be based in Hyderabad and lead operations on a Pan-India level.
