At Capital One India, we solve fundamental business problems at scale using advanced analytics, data science and machine learning. As Director, External Communications for India, you will be responsible for leading and driving effective and engaging communications strategies around our business and technology story for external audiences, particularly potential candidates, and building a powerful employer brand in India. You'll manage high-impact programs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and work with internal and external partners to deliver creative and effective communication strategies.

This position requires exceptional leadership, judgment, teamwork, and results focus. An open mind and a passion for finding creative new ways to solve problems and deliver results are essential to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and lead an integrated external communications and employer brand strategy for Capital One India, aligned with global goals

- Strengthen brand reputation across media, technology, and talent ecosystems through compelling storytelling, events, and digital engagement

- Establish a detailed annual plan & lead a tech events strategy and team to build Capital One's reputation as a technology leader and employer of choice for top tech talent

- Partner cross-functionally with technology, HR, marketing, and internal communications teams to implement a range of strategies and creative solutions to reach key target audiences, ensure consistency and alignment

- Apply user-experience design methodologies to create breakthrough, integrated experiences for internal and external audiences our associates

- Lead creative and data-driven campaigns that advance our external presence, engage audiences and showcase our technology impact and culture of innovation

- Lead external communications and projects, while collaborating with internal communications partners to ensure an integrated approach

- Lead media relations, external tech events, and thought leadership programs to position Capital One as an employer of choice for top tech talent

- Inspire and lead teams and agency partners to deliver innovative, high-impact communications programs

- Integrate with external marketing, internal communications, technology events, and community activities to support the external technology narrative

- Establish clear metrics to track brand visibility, engagement, and business impact

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or military experience

- At least 15 years of experience leading public relations strategy or at least 15 years of experience leading communications strategy or at least 15 years of experience leading external communications and marketing for organizations

- 10+ years of supervisory experience

- A passionate and imaginative communicator with a strategic mindset

- Proven experience in driving communications for technology, innovation, or employer brand narratives

- Strong leadership, collaboration, and storytelling skills - both verbally and visually

- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations and manage multiple stakeholders

- Expertise using digital and social platforms to amplify brand reach and engagement

- Strong writing, editing, and creative strategy skills
