Role Overview :
The Chief Audit Officer will serve as the primary leader for the internal audit function, providing independent assurance to the Board and the Audit Committee regarding the effectiveness of the company's risk management, control, and governance processes. You will work closely with senior leadership and regulatory bodies to ensure that all operational, financial, and compliance activities align with statutory requirements and internal policies. This role is critical in safeguarding the organization's integrity, identifying systemic risks, and driving continuous improvement in internal controls to support the company's long-term strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and execute a comprehensive, risk-based internal audit plan to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls across all business functions.
- Lead the audit team in conducting regular reviews of financial statements, operational processes, and regulatory compliance to ensure adherence to RBI guidelines and other statutory mandates.
- Present detailed audit findings and actionable recommendations to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors to facilitate informed decision-making and risk mitigation.
- Oversee the implementation of corrective measures and monitor the status of audit observations to ensure timely closure of identified gaps.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory inspectors to manage statutory audits and ensure seamless compliance with external reporting requirements.
- Foster a culture of compliance and accountability by providing guidance to departmental heads on best practices in risk management and internal control frameworks.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale internal audit functions within the banking or housing finance industry, with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and statutory audit requirements.
- Strong analytical capability to identify complex operational risks and translate them into strategic insights for senior management.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence Board-level discussions and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Proven track record of navigating complex regulatory environments and maintaining high standards of corporate governance.
- Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) is essential, with additional certifications like CIA or CISA being highly preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively in an on-site environment at our Bangalore headquarters, maintaining a high level of professional skepticism and integrity.
- 15 - 22 years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk management, and compliance within the financial services sector.
