Job Summary:
CA Monk is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Chartered Accountant with 2-5 years of dedicated experience in Indirect Taxation, specifically Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The Indirect Tax (GST) Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring robust GST compliance, advising on complex tax matters, and contributing to the development of tax strategies for our internal operations and potentially for our client-facing initiatives or educational content.
The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of GST laws, excellent analytical abilities, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
GST Compliance & Filings:
- Ensure proper reconciliation of GSTR-2A/2B with purchase registers and resolve discrepancies for optimal Input Tax Credit (ITC) utilization.
- Manage GST refunds and ensure timely processing.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation and records as per GST regulations.
Advisory & Consulting:
- Analyze the tax implications of new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions.
- Assist in developing and implementing effective GST planning strategies to optimize tax positions while ensuring compliance.
- Respond to and resolve GST-related queries from internal teams and external stakeholders.
Audit & Litigation Support:
- Assist in drafting appeals, replies to show-cause notices, and other legal responses.
- Liaise effectively with tax authorities and consultants during assessments and audits.
Process Improvement & Technology:
- Work with relevant teams (e.g., IT, finance) to implement and optimize tax technology solutions.
- Ensure compliance with e-invoicing and e-way bill requirements.
Knowledge Management & Training:
- Disseminate updates and provide training to internal teams on key GST changes and their implications.
- Contribute to the development of Indirect Taxation content for CA Monk's upskilling programs (optional, based on organizational needs and candidate interest).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
Experience: 2-5 years of post-qualification experience specifically in Indirect Taxation (GST) in a reputable consulting firm, industry, or a blend of both.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of various GST returns, reconciliation processes, and ITC mechanisms.
- Familiarity with other indirect tax laws (e.g., Customs, erstwhile Service Tax/VAT) is a plus.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex tax issues, identify potential risks, and propose practical solutions.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex tax concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tax-related documentation and filings.
Technology Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with various GST portals and accounting/ERP software (e.g., SAP, Tally).
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a dynamic regulatory environment and continuously update knowledge
