Description:


The Business Unit Head will lead the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the concentrated soft drinks division. This role involves overseeing end-to-end business functions such as production, sales, marketing, supply chain, quality, and compliance. The incumbent will focus on driving growth, profitability, innovation, and operational excellence, ensuring all initiatives align with the organizations overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Leadership:


- Develop and execute the divisions strategy in line with the companys long-term goals.

- Identify new growth opportunities across domestic and international markets.

- Drive product innovation and portfolio diversification to meet evolving consumer and regulatory needs.

- Manage full P&L responsibility to ensure sustainable profitability and business expansion.

Operations & Manufacturing:


- Oversee production planning, efficiency, and capacity utilization.

- Maintain consistent product quality and compliance with global food safety standards (FSSAI, FDA, HACCP, ISO, GMP).

- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Optimize procurement and raw material management (sugar, flavorings, packaging materials) for quality and cost efficiency.

Sales & Marketing:


- Define and execute sales strategies across B2B and B2C channels.

- Build and nurture relationships with distributors, bottlers, and beverage partners to enhance market reach.

- Develop effective pricing, branding, and promotional strategies for key markets.

- Monitor competition and market trends to sustain leadership and relevance.

Supply Chain & Distribution:


- Ensure smooth and timely procurement, production, and distribution of soft drink concentrates.

- Strengthen logistics and supply chain operations to minimize lead time and cost.

- Explore and develop export opportunities and manage both national and international distribution networks.

Finance & Compliance:


- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of the division.

- Ensure strict compliance with food safety laws, labeling, and environmental standards.

- Drive cost optimization without compromising quality or efficiency.

People Leadership:


- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams across operations, sales, R&D, and support functions.

- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation.

- Implement training and development initiatives to build team capability and retention.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Revenue and profitability growth.

- Market share expansion across key regions.

- Production efficiency and cost optimization.

- Product quality compliance with zero major non-conformities.

- Number and success of new product launches.

Qualifications & Experience:


- Bachelors/Masters degree in Business Administration, Food Technology, or related field.

- 1825 years of experience in FMCG, beverages, or food manufacturing, including 10+ years in leadership roles.

- Proven record in P&L management and business scaling.

- In-depth knowledge of beverage formulations, concentrates, and regulatory frameworks.

- Strong expertise in operations, sales, and supply chain leadership.

- Prior work experience in Africa preferred.
