At Outsized, we match clients in financial services and management consulting to high-quality independent consultants and boutique/specialist firms for the execution of their key projects.

Our client, a global consulting firm, is partnering with a leading NBFC to strengthen and scale its micro-LAP (Loan Against Property) vertical. This engagement forms a critical part of the NBFC's business expansion and portfolio transformation initiative focused on micro-ticket lending (< ?10 lakh) in underserved segments.

The consultant will play a pivotal leadership role in driving business setup, transformation, or scale-up of the micro-LAP vertical. Their work will directly influence P&L performance, channel strategy, and sustainable growth in tier 2/3 markets, delivering measurable impact on portfolio quality, revenue, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end micro-LAP business strategy, including product design, credit policy formulation, distribution channels, and full P&L ownership.

- Drive cross-functional alignment across sales, credit, operations, and collections to ensure seamless execution and portfolio scaling.

- Build and optimize open-market / direct sourcing channels (non-DSA), with focus on DSTs, connectors, and field sales teams in semi-urban and rural markets.

- Define and refine product structuring (ticket size, LTV, customer segments such as SME/self-employed) and scaling approaches tailored to informal income segments.

- Establish or transform processes for lead funnel management, productivity enhancement, conversion optimization, and risk-adjusted growth.

- Provide strategic guidance and hands-on leadership as Business Head/CEO/COO or National Sales Head, mentoring internal teams and influencing key business decisions.

Your Background

- 15+ years of experience in micro-LAP (< 10 lakh ticket size) within NBFCs or Banks for the Business Head/CEO/COO profile; 10+ years with 5+ years as National Sales Head for the Sales Head profile.

- Proven track record of managing full P&L, setting up or transforming micro-LAP businesses in greenfield or scale-up phases.

- Deep expertise in tier 2/3 market expansion, informal income segments, direct/open-market channel building, and cross-functional leadership.

- Prior experience in roles such as CEO, Business Head, COO, National Head - AHL, or National Sales Head - micro LAP.

- Strong commercial acumen, distribution strategy skills, and credit/distribution alignment capabilities.

- Open to highly experienced retired professionals with relevant recent exposure (last 1-2 years).

This is a 12-month engagement based in Mumbai with expectations of significant onsite presence to support hands-on leadership and team integration.
