Business Manager - Supply Chain

This role focuses on managing supplier performance and ensuring smooth, reliable supply chain operations. The position works closely with suppliers and internal teams to make sure materials are available on time, quality standards are met, and production goals are achieved. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen supply chain efficiency and customer commitments.

The ideal candidate is proactive, results-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment while collaborating across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Performance & Delivery:

- Define and track supplier performance metrics aligned with annual business goals

- Manage supplier performance using scorecards and regular reviews

- Ensure on-time material delivery and sufficient supplier capacity to support production

- Monitor inventory levels and material availability to prevent production disruptions

Issue Resolution & Escalations:

- Coordinate with suppliers to resolve material shortages and avoid production stoppages

- Support quality-related escalations to ensure compliance with agreed standards

- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods

Process Improvement:

- Continuously improve procurement, inventory control, and manufacturing-related processes

- Drive best practices and standard methods across supplier operations

- Work with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes for better quality and delivery performance

Supplier Collaboration:

- Engage suppliers early in new product or part development to improve quality and manufacturability

- Set clear delivery and capacity goals with suppliers based on forecasted demand

- Ensure contract terms and supplier agreements are followed

Cross-Functional Coordination:

- Work closely with planning, engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, and procurement teams

- Participate in cross-functional teams to address supply challenges and meet customer requirements

- Partner with engineering and suppliers to resolve complex technical or delivery issues

Risk & Cost Management:

- Support business continuity planning and supply risk management initiatives

- Contribute to cost reduction and sourcing improvement strategies

Experience & Qualifications:

Experience:

- Minimum 10+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, production planning, or related functions

- Experience working in global or multi-site supply chain environments

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)

- MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to communicate clearly across teams and with senior stakeholders

- Understanding of production planning, manufacturing, and logistics operations

- Familiarity with structured problem-solving techniques and basic statistical analysis

- Experience managing suppliers in technology-driven or manufacturing environments

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective partnerships

- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Sense of urgency, ownership, and customer-focused mindset
