Role Overview:
As Business Manager Solar Power, you will be the frontline driver of ICCPLs project pipeline and commercial growth. Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, you will operate as a hands-on individual contributor, leading bid execution, partnership development, project finance structuring, and government liaison to secure new opportunities and close deals.
Key Responsibilities:
Opportunity Identification & Pipeline Management:
- Monitor policy updates (KUSUM, SECI, state tenders) and DISCOM RFPs to spot new project prospects.
- Qualify and prioritize leads farmer aggregations, C&I consumers, and government programs to build a robust funnel.
- Maintain a real-time pipeline dashboard with milestone tracking from LOI through PPA signing.
Bid & Proposal Leadership:
- Lead end-to-end bid preparation: coordinate technical inputs, financial modeling (IRR, DSCR), risk assessments, and commercial terms.
- Draft and negotiate term-sheets, MoUs, and LOAs, ensuring alignment with ICCPLs strategic and financial objectives.
- Partner with finance to refine subsidy integration plans and optimize funding structures.
Project Finance Structuring:
- Design debt vs. equity financing packages, manage subsidy draw-down strategies, and set up escrow/DSRA arrangements.
- Liaise with banks, NBFCs, and investors to obtain term-sheets, negotiate covenants, and secure binding offers.
- Track draw-down conditions and disbursement schedules to align with construction and commissioning milestones.
Government & Stakeholder Liaison:
- Navigate multi-tier approvals: land-use, environmental clearances, grid-connect, and MNRE/DISCOM sign-offs.
- Build and maintain relationships with State Nodal Agencies, local authorities, and farmer cooperatives.
- Drive application submissions, follow up on queries, and expedite LOA/PPA issuance timelines.
Investor & Partner Engagement:
- Support fundraising efforts: prepare investor teasers, pitch decks, and due-diligence data rooms.
- Update strategic partners and equity investors on pipeline progress and risk mitigation plans.
- Manage a secure investor portal with project dashboards, term-sheet notices, and performance summaries.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: 5+ years in renewable-energy business development, consulting, or investment banking preferably in solar.
- Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of project finance, subsidy mechanisms, and financial modeling (Excel/VBA).
- Government Expertise: Proven ability to secure approvals and navigate regulatory processes at MNRE, DISCOM, and local levels.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills for high-stakes negotiations, board-level presentations, and investor communications.
- Startup Mindset: Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity; excels as an individual contributor setting up processes from scratch.
