Job Summary :
The Power BI Specialist is a member of the Finance team who works collaboratively to build the reports for the Sales Dashboard BI project, as well as all future dashboard and BI reporting projects. The Power BI Specialist will work closely with the intended user audience members and stakeholders to define the visualization requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Study, analyze and understand business requirements in context to business intelligence
- Design and map data models to shift raw data into meaningful insights
- Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports
- Spot key performance indicators with apt objectives
- Analyze previous and present data for better decision-making capabilities
- Transform business requirements into technical publications
- Build multi-dimensional data models
- Develop strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models
- Perform detailed analysis on tested and deployed Power BI scripts
- Run DAX queries and functions in Power BI
- SQL query familiarity and optimization for best results
- Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with business owners, customers, and leadership
- Provide thought leadership, best practices, and standards required to deliver effective and sustainable solutions to the business
- Develop and implement KPIs, metrics, and dashboards for areas of responsibility through collaboration with business owners, customers, and leadership
- Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs in order to help team(s) achieve organizational goals/objectives
Required Technical Skills :
- Proficiency or familiarity with data science, business intelligence, and data analytics
- Familiarity with data integration, data warehousing, modeling, along with presentation tactics and concepts
- Experience with BI tools, specifically Microsoft Power BI
- Able to build rich dashboards, write DAX expressions, and also implement security
- Knowledge about database management, SQL querying, data modeling, Online Analytical Processing
- Well-informed about Microsoft BI Stack
- Knowing a scripting and programming language such as Python or R preferred
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence stack like Power Pivot, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Bachelors degree in computer science/related field, or equivalent years of experience required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience of working with BI tools
- Strong analytical skills to organize and analyze significant data sets with attention to detail and accuracy
- Outstanding writing, organization, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and non-technical staff, and confidently interact with all levels of management and stakeholders
- Excellent visual skills, including demonstrable design knowledge such as layout, typography, and color
- Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
