Role Purpose:
We are seeking a senior business leader with a strong foundation in EPC project execution, supply chain, procurement and commercial management within the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will have progressed from managing large-scale EPC projects to leading business operations, with direct accountability for project profitability, cost optimisation, client relationships and business performance. The incumbent will take ownership of the P&L of a renewable energy platform, driving revenue growth, improving margins and ensuring profitable execution of Solar and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. P&L Ownership and Business Profitability:
- Assume end-to-end responsibility for the business P&L, including revenue, gross margins, EBITDA and working capital.
- Develop and execute business plans focused on sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
- Drive margin improvement through project cost optimisation, procurement efficiencies and operational excellence.
- Monitor project-wise profitability, identifying opportunities to improve contribution margins.
- Establish robust financial and operational controls to minimise cost overruns and protect profitability.
- Evaluate project opportunities based on commercial viability, risk and expected returns.
2. EPC Project Leadership:
- Lead end-to-end execution of Solar EPC and BESS projects, from planning and procurement through commissioning and handover.
- Oversee engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Ensure adherence to project budgets, timelines, quality standards and contractual commitments.
- Manage project risks, execution bottlenecks and commercial deviations.
- Drive improvements in project delivery, resource utilisation and execution productivity.
- Ensure effective coordination between engineering, procurement, project management and commercial teams.
3. Solar and BESS Procurement & Supply Chain:
- Demonstrate strong technical-commercial understanding of procurement and supply-chain management across Solar PV modules, BESS, inverters, electrical balance-of-system equipment, and civil/structural materials.
- Develop strategic sourcing and procurement frameworks.
- Negotiate commercial terms with OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers and EPC subcontractors.
- Optimise landed costs, logistics, inventory and procurement lead times.
- Build strategic supplier relationships to improve pricing, reliability and delivery performance.
- Evaluate alternative suppliers, materials and technical solutions to improve project economics.
- Reduce supply-chain risks while maintaining technical and quality standards.
4. Commercial and Contract Management:
- Oversee project commercials, budgeting, cost estimation and contractual profitability.
- Participate in commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure effective management of contractual variations, claims and change orders.
- Improve cash conversion through milestone-based billing, collections and working-capital management.
- Drive value engineering and cost reduction across project lifecycles.
- Protect project margins through effective contract administration and risk management.
5. Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with developers, IPPs, utilities, industrial customers and institutional clients.
- Act as the senior escalation point for critical client and project issues.
- Strengthen customer relationships to secure repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with business development teams on project opportunities, commercial proposals and negotiations.
- Build confidence among customers through predictable delivery and commercial discipline.
6. Leadership and Platform Development:
- Build and lead high-performing project, procurement, supply-chain and commercial teams.
- Establish standard operating procedures, management dashboards and performance metrics.
- Create scalable systems for project governance, procurement and financial controls.
- Drive a culture of accountability, cost consciousness and profitability.
- Develop leadership capabilities within the organisation to support business expansion.
Candidate Profile:
- Engineering graduate, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or a related discipline. MBA or additional management qualification desirable.
- 15-25 years of experience in EPC, renewable energy or associated infrastructure businesses.
- Significant experience in Solar EPC projects, including procurement and supply-chain management.
- Demonstrable exposure to BESS procurement, project integration or execution.
- Strong understanding of C&S, electrical and mechanical packages.
- Experience managing large projects or multiple project portfolios.
- Proven ability to improve project profitability through procurement, execution and commercial interventions.
- Exposure to customer negotiations, contract management and commercial decision-making.
- Existing P&L responsibility or substantial project/portfolio profitability accountability.
Preferred career progression:
Project Engineer - Project Manager - Project Director - Head of Projects / COO / Business Head.

- Business P&L: Revenue and EBITDA performance.
- Project margins: Improvement in gross and contribution margins.
