About the Role :
We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Head Business (MSME Lending) to lead and scale our secured MSME lending business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, expanding lending portfolios, establishing strategic partnerships, and building sustainable funding relationships with banks, NBFCs, financial institutions, investors, and co-lending partners. The role requires a seasoned lending professional with a proven track record of building and scaling lending businesses, managing end-to-end credit operations, and driving profitable portfolio growth within the MSME lending ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Business Strategy & Growth :
- Develop and execute the overall business strategy for the MSME lending vertical to achieve growth and profitability targets.
- Drive expansion of the secured MSME loan portfolio across target markets and customer segments.
- Identify new business opportunities, lending products, and strategic partnerships to accelerate business growth.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory developments to strengthen the organization's market position.
2. Lending Business Management :
- Lead the complete lending lifecycle, including business sourcing, loan origination, underwriting coordination, disbursement, portfolio monitoring, and collections oversight.
- Drive business acquisition through Direct Sales Teams, DSAs, Channel Partners, FinTechs, and Digital Lending Platforms.
- Ensure high-quality credit sourcing while maintaining portfolio quality and risk standards.
- Collaborate with Credit, Risk, Operations, Legal, and Collections teams to ensure seamless loan processing and customer experience.
3. Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships :
- Build and strengthen relationships with Banks, NBFCs, Financial Institutions, Family Offices, Private Credit Funds, NCD Investors, and other Debt Capital Providers.
- Develop strategic partnerships for co-lending, co-origination, and structured financing arrangements.
- Identify new funding avenues to support business expansion and optimize the company's capital structure.
- Lead discussions with investors, lenders, and financial institutions for debt raising initiatives.
4. Portfolio & Risk Management :
- Monitor lending portfolio performance, asset quality, and profitability.
- Work closely with Credit and Risk teams to establish prudent underwriting frameworks and portfolio monitoring mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with RBI regulations and internal lending policies.
- Drive initiatives to improve portfolio performance while maintaining acceptable delinquency levels.
5. Operational Excellence :
- Oversee end-to-end lending operations to improve turnaround time (TAT), customer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Implement process improvements, digital lending initiatives, and automation to enhance productivity.
- Ensure effective coordination across business, operations, technology, finance, and compliance functions.
6. Leadership & Stakeholder Management :
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing business teams.
- Establish performance metrics and drive a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to achieve organizational growth objectives.
- Represent the organization in industry forums, investor meetings, and strategic business discussions.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 13+ years of experience in Banking, NBFC, Housing Finance, or Financial Services.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in Secured MSME Lending.
- Proven experience in building, scaling, and leading MSME lending businesses or business verticals.
- Strong understanding of secured lending products such as Loan Against Property (LAP), Business Loans, Working Capital Finance, and SME Financing.
- Extensive experience in loan origination, business development, portfolio management, and lending operations.
- Strong network with Banks, NBFCs, Financial Institutions, Investors, Family Offices, Private Credit Funds, NCD Investors, and Co-Lending Partners.
- Experience in fundraising, debt syndication, and strategic partnership development.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- In-depth understanding of credit, risk management, lending regulations, and RBI guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Finance, Marketing, or Banking will be preferred.
- Professional certifications in Banking, Credit, or Risk Management are an added advantage.
