Business Head Modern Trade

Role Overview:

The Business Head, Modern Trade, will spearhead our strategic growth initiatives within the dynamic Modern Trade channel across India, operating from our Gurgaon office. This pivotal role involves end-to-end ownership of the Modern Trade driving aggressive sales targets, and expanding market share. You will be instrumental in forging and nurturing robust relationships with key national and regional retail chains, SIS and other modern trade partners. Collaborating closely with internal teams including marketing, supply chain, you will ensure seamless execution of strategies that directly impact our brand visibility, revenue growth, and overall business profitability in a highly competitive retail landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute comprehensive Modern Trade strategies to achieve aggressive sales targets and expand market share across all relevant channels.

- Own the Modern Trade P&L, meticulously managing budgets, optimizing trade spends, and ensuring sustainable profitability and return on investment.

- Cultivate and strengthen strategic partnerships with top-tier Modern Trade accounts, negotiating high-impact annual business plans and promotional calendars to drive mutual growth.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Key Account Managers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to identify new opportunities and adapt strategies effectively, ensuring our competitive edge.

- Oversee the flawless execution of trade marketing initiatives, promotional activities, and supply chain coordination to ensure optimal product availability and visibility at point of sale.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in Modern Trade channel management, strategic key account planning, and comprehensive P&L ownership within the FMCG or consumer durables sector.

- Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, coupled with the ability to build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders at Modern Trade accounts. Should have developed newer and more extensive network of SIS and MBO,s

- Proven leadership capabilities in managing and developing high-performing sales teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

- Strong analytical acumen to interpret complex sales data, market trends, and financial reports, translating insights into actionable business strategies.

- Experience in managing large format stores and SIS

- Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment, with a commitment to an on-site work setup in Gurgaon to drive team cohesion and market presence.
