Business Development Manager - Retail

Job Purpose:

The role is responsible for driving pan-India expansion of luxury retail formats with strong mandatory exposure to airport store openings and mall-based new store openings (NSO). The incumbent will lead end-to-end business development activities including site identification, commercial negotiations, project coordination, and successful store launches across airports and premium malls.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Expansion

- Lead pan-India expansion strategy for luxury retail stores across airports and premium malls

- Identify, evaluate, and finalize new locations aligned with brand strategy

- Conduct market feasibility studies, catchment analysis, and competition mapping

- Prepare business cases, ROI analysis, and capex planning for new stores

Airport Retail (Mandatory)

- Handle airport store openings end-to-end (Mandatory experience)

- Liaise with airport authorities, concessionaires, and developers

- Manage commercial negotiations, revenue share models, and contractual agreements

- Ensure compliance with airport retail norms and timelines

New Store Openings (Malls & High Streets)

- Manage New Store Openings (NSO) across malls and high streets

- Coordinate with leasing teams, developers, landlords, and mall management

- Oversee store rollout timelines from LOI to store launch

- Ensure smooth handover to operations post-opening

Commercial & Legal Coordination

- Negotiate lease terms, commercials, and legal clauses

- Coordinate with legal teams for LOI, Lease Deed, and related documentation

- Manage approvals and stakeholder sign-offs

- Project & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with design, projects, finance, supply chain, and operations

- Track fit-out progress, capex budgets, and store readiness

- Ensure on-time, within-budget store launches

Reporting & Governance

- Prepare expansion MIS, dashboards, and management presentations

- Track expansion KPIs, timelines, and cost controls

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong experience in luxury / premium retail

- Mandatory exposure to airport retail expansion

- Expertise in mall leasing & NSO

- Strong commercial negotiation skills

- Knowledge of pan-India retail markets

- Project management and stakeholder coordination

- Financial acumen & ROI evaluation

- Excellent communication and presentation skill

Preferred Background:

- Luxury fashion, accessories, watches, jewelry, beauty, or premium retail brands

- Experience working with top mall developers and airport operators

- Exposure to travel retail / duty-free is an added advantage
