About the Role:
- Risk Metrics & Measurement (RMM) Services Transformation is a multi-year cloud adoption program that will transform the data, models and systems underpinning our Stress Testing, Credit Provisions and Regulatory Capital services.
- As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering change across multiple workstreams. You'll liaise with diverse stakeholders to elicit and validate requirements for changes in stress testing business processes and systems, ensuring solutions align to the program's target state. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complexity and can bridge the gap between business and technology teams to drive meaningful outcomes.
Accountabilities include:
- Liaise with stakeholders: Engage business stakeholders to gather, analyse and confirm business requirements for data, models, process and system changes.
- Translate requirements into solutions: Convert business needs into detailed functional specifications and user stories, ensuring technology outcomes are workable, testable, and aligned to RMM's target state architecture.
- Coordinate end-to-end delivery: Support testing, implementation, and change management activities, making sure that new solutions are delivered smoothly into production and meet both regulatory and business needs.
Role Type: 18 Month secondment / Fixed Term
Role Location: 833 Collins Street Docklands VIC 3008
What Will Your Day Look Like?
- Document & Define Requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk, to elicit and document detailed business requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of end-to-end needs and translating them into testable technical outcomes. This may include extensive review of complex production SAS code to determine current state processes.
- Analyse & Design Solutions: Transform requirements into stories, acceptance criteria, system design etc. - including analysis of existing services, performing field level analysis, defining intra-system mapping and transformation rules and interface specifications. This may include refactoring of production SAS code to provide transparency regarding the existing process.
- Map Dependencies: Document system dependencies, information flows, and constraints. Maintain traceability of requirements through design, build, and testing phases.
- Drive Testing Activities: Develop test plans and cases and govern their execution. Support and participate in various testing cycles (e.g. User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Business Verification Testing, System Integration Testing) to validate that solutions meet requirements. Where possible, contribute to or leverage test automation to enhance efficiency and coverage.
- Support Change Implementation: to prepare impacted teams for new processes and systems. Ensure that end users are trained and equipped to adopt changes and assist in verifying implemented solutions work as intended in the production environment.
- Enable Operational Readiness: Coordinate with operational teams and vendors to ensure new platform features are ready for business use. This includes liaising with external solution providers to manage any post-implementation support, incident triage, or problem resolution required for the platform.
- Issue Analysis & Resolution: Synthesize log and event data from multiple sources to perform root cause analysis on issues. Manage the incident resolution process, ensuring any defects or problems discovered are documented, tracked, and resolved, and learnings are fed back into testing and requirements for continuous improvement.
- Leverage Collaboration Tools: Use modern collaboration and documentation tools (e.g. Confluence, JIRA, SharePoint, MS Teams) to create and maintain requirements, design artifacts, test evidence and status updates. Promote knowledge sharing and single sources of truth for project documentation.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams - including business subject matter experts, developers, testers, and third-party vendors - to ensure changes are integrated and tested in a holistic manner. Facilitate workshops or working groups to resolve design issues and decisions, keeping everyone aligned.
- Risk Management: Identify and actively manage risks related to requirements and testing (for example, data quality issues or potential impacts on downstream systems). Develop mitigation plans so that testing and implementation can proceed without compromising delivery timelines or quality.
What Will You Bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring the following:
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with credit risk metrics and regulatory processes - such as stress testing, regulatory capital or IFRS9 provisioning is highly regarded. You understand how data and models drive these processes and can quickly learn RMM's specific context. Experience in credit risk and stress testing would be highly regarded.
- Business Analysis Expertise: Extensive experience as a Business Analyst on complex transformation projects. You have demonstrated ability to elicit requirements, document business processes, and define target operating model capabilities. Experience transforming business requirements into functional specs, user stories and process maps is essential.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Proven strength in analyzing complex systems and problems, with an ability to navigate ambiguous or layered information. You can introduce structure where there is uncertainty, perform root cause analysis, and synthesize insights from data to inform decisions. SAS coding experience would be highly regarded.
- Testing & Delivery Experience: Hands-on experience in planning and executing testing (including UAT and system testing) for new systems or features. You understand software delivery lifecycles and can work within both Agile and hybrid project environments to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and negotiate outcomes across business and technology groups. You can translate between business requirements and technical constraints, ensuring all parties have a shared understanding.
- Change Management Acumen: Awareness of change management and implementation practices. You anticipate the operational impacts of changes and work to ensure business readiness - whether it's updating procedures, training users, or coordinating transition to BAU teams.
- Tools & Technology: Proficiency with JIRA (for backlog and issue tracking), Confluence/SharePoint (for documentation), Visio or similar (for process mapping), and standard MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can clearly document findings, requirements and test results, and you're confident presenting updates or insights to senior stakeholders in a concise manner. Visual communication skills (to produce clear diagrams or slides) are valued.
