Job Summary:

As a Technical Project Manager (TPM), Data Engineering, you will be the driving force behind our data infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of robust and scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytics platforms. This role demands a deep technical understanding of the data engineering landscape, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and business stakeholders. You will work with a team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to transform business needs into high-impact data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Project and Program Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of data engineering projects, including data platform migrations, new data source integrations, and real-time data streaming initiatives.

- Technical Expertise: Possess a strong foundational knowledge of data engineering principles and architectures. You must be able to contribute to technical discussions and decisions related to:-

- Data Modeling: Design and evaluate data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema) for optimized data warehouses and data marts.

- ETL/ELT: Manage the development of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) pipelines using orchestrators like Apache Airflow or similar tools.

- Data Storage: Understand and guide the use of various data storage solutions, including cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery), data lakes (Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake), and both SQL and NoSQL databases.

Agile and Methodologies:

- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

- Manage and track team velocity and capacity to ensure predictable and sustainable project delivery.

Financial and Vendor Management:

- Oversee project budgeting and resource allocation to ensure financial discipline.

- Manage relationships and deliverables with multivendor teams and third-party contractors.

Qualifications:

- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a technical project management role, with a strong emphasis on data engineering or data-centric projects.

Project Management and Soft Skills:

- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage expectations and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to senior leadership.

- Conflict Management: Skilled in identifying and resolving interpersonal or technical conflicts to maintain team morale and project momentum.

- PM Tools: Proficiency with project management tools like Jira, Confluence, Asana, or Trello for managing backlogs, documentation, and reporting.

Technical Skills (Required):

- Programming: Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with Python being highly preferred.

- SQL: Expert-level knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying, transforming, and managing large datasets.

- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their data services.

- Big Data: Familiarity with big data technologies like Apache Spark or Apache Hadoop.

- Data Orchestration: Experience with workflow management tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

Additional Technical Skills (Preferred):

- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka or Kinesis.

- Knowledge of modern data stack tools such as dbt (Data Build Tool).

- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
