DIRECTX
BUSINESS HEAD - GROWTH & REVENUE
Location: Mumbai
Reporting to: CEO
Experience: 12+ years
Sector: Brand Solutions - Experiential - Retail - Media - Marketing Services
ABOUT DIRECTX
DirectX is building a new kind of brand solutions business around Hyperlocal Communication.
We believe brands win when they understand where consumers are, what they are doing, what mindset they are in, and what intervention is most relevant in that moment.
DirectX brings together strategy, consumer context, experiences, ecosystems, technology and execution to create interventions that are closer to the consumer and more accountable to business outcomes.
Our consumer ecosystems span Modern Trade & Retail, Corporate & Tech Parks, Campuses, Fitness, Transit & Mobility, Events, Smart Vending and emerging physical consumer touchpoints.
We are also building a client ecosystem across leading brands and businesses in FMCG, Consumer, Retail, Technology, BFSI, Lifestyle and other high-consumer-engagement categories, working across CMO, Brand, Shopper & Trade Marketing, Media, Sales and Business teams.
This intersection of where consumers are + what brands need to achieve is at the heart of the DirectX proposition.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a traditional agency sales role.
As Business Head - Growth & Revenue, you will be a key leader responsible for building DirectX's commercial engine and taking the business to its next stage of growth.
Your mandate is to identify where the market is going, which business problems we should solve, which brands we should build relationships with, and where DirectX can create differentiated value.
You will work closely with the CEO and Strategy, Solutions, Alliances and Operations teams to take opportunities from: Market - Opportunity - Client Problem - Solution - Pitch - Revenue - Repeat Business.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. BUILD THE REVENUE ENGINE:
- Own DirectX's new-business strategy, pipeline and revenue targets.
- Identify priority categories, brands, business problems and high-value opportunities.
- Build senior relationships with CMOs, Marketing Heads, Brand Heads, Shopper & Trade Marketing and Media leaders.
- Create opportunities proactively rather than relying only on incoming briefs.
- Establish strong pipeline, forecasting and conversion discipline.
2. SELL THE DIRECTX PROPOSITION:
- Move the conversation from: "What activation do you need?" to: "What consumer problem are you trying to solve, and where can we create the most relevant intervention?"
- Sell DirectX's Hyperlocal Communication proposition.
- Translate business and consumer problems into differentiated solutions.
- Bring together physical, experiential, retail, technology and ecosystem opportunities.
- Build solutions that are strategic enough for the CMO and executable enough for the operating team.
- Challenge conventional briefs when there is a bigger commercial opportunity.
3. WIN AND GROW BUSINESS:
- Lead opportunities from first conversation through closure.
- Own senior-level pitches and commercial negotiations.
- Partner with Strategy & Solutions to develop compelling propositions and commercially sound proposals.
- Build relationships that extend beyond the first project into repeat, cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
- Develop strategic accounts that can become significant, recurring revenue pools.
- Ensure major opportunities have a clear path to revenue, margin and repeatability.
4. HELP BUILD WHAT COMES NEXT:
- DirectX is building consumer ecosystems, strategic partnerships and solutions that can create new commercial opportunities.
- You will help identify opportunities across: Modern Trade & Retail - Corporate & Tech Parks - Campuses - Fitness - Transit & Mobility - Smart Vending - Technology-led Consumer Engagement - Experiential Platforms - Strategic Partnerships - Emerging Physical Touchpoints.
- The expectation is not simply to sell what exists, but to help identify what DirectX should build next.
- You will bring market intelligence and client needs back into the organisation to influence our proposition, solutions and go-to-market strategy.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Has a proven track record of winning significant new business.
- Has strong relationships with senior marketing and business decision-makers.
- Understands how brands allocate marketing budgets and make investment decisions.
- Can sell ideas, solutions and business outcomes, not just execution capabilities.
- Has strong commercial instincts and negotiation skills.
- Can move comfortably between a CMO conversation and an execution conversation.
- Is comfortable creating demand in a category that is still evolving.
- Has an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoys building rather than inheriting.
- Can work effectively across strategy, creative, operations, technology and alliances.
- Relevant backgrounds: Experiential - BTL - Brand Solutions - Media - Retail Marketing - Shopper Marketing - Integrated Marketing - Marketing Technology - Consumer Platforms.
- The exact agency or category background matters less than: What you have built, what you have sold, and the relationships you can activate.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
BUILD - OPEN - CONVERT - GROW
In your first 12 months, you will be expected to:
- Build a high-quality, high-value pipeline.
- Open senior relationships with priority brands.
- Win meaningful new business.
- Build repeatable revenue streams and strategic accounts.
- Identify new categories, client opportunities and ecosystems.
- Help build the foundations of a scalable business development organisation.
- Bring market intelligence back into DirectX's proposition and go-to-market strategy.
- Ultimately, success will not be measured by the number of meetings you take.
- It will be measured by the quality, scale, profitability and repeatability of the revenue you create.
WHY DIRECTX?
This is an opportunity to join early enough to shape the business, but with the operating foundation to build on.
You will have a meaningful role in defining: What DirectX sells, who it sells to, which business problems it solves, how it goes to market, which ecosystems it builds and owns, what solutions it develops, and how big the business can become.
This is not about inheriting a sales target and managing an existing book of business.
It is about building the commercial engine of a business that is still defining its category.
If you want to build a new kind of marketing solutions business and own its growth, let's talk.
