Description:


Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the branch operations, ensuring profitability, compliance, customer satisfaction, and achievement of sales & service targets. The Branch Manager acts as the face of the bank in the local market, builds relationships with customers, community, and ensures all banking operations are smooth, secure, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

Business & Sales Growth:

- Achieve branch business targets for deposits, advances, CASA (Current & Savings Accounts), Retail Assets, wealth products, third-party products, etc.

- Grow net worth accounts and high value clients.

- Cross-sell banking and financial services products to existing customers.

- Implement local marketing initiatives to acquire new customers.

Profit & Loss Responsibility:

- Manage the branch as a profit centre: increase revenues, manage costs/expenses, improve margins.

- Monitor noninterest income (fees, commission, etc.).

- Optimize cost of operations and overheads.

Operations Management & Process Efficiency:

- Ensure daily branch operations are carried out properly (cash management, account opening, reconciliation, etc.).

- Ensure compliance with internal policies, RBI / regulatory norms, audit guidelines.

- Ensure turnaround times (TAT) are met e.g. for account opening, loans, customer queries.

- Maintain branch security, safety, and risk management (fraud prevention, cash handling, etc.).

Customer Service & Relationship Management:

- Ensure high customer satisfaction levels; address grievances promptly.

- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, community stakeholders, corporates in assigned territory.

- Ensure service metrics, service levels and customer experience are excellent.

Team Leadership & Employee Development:

- Lead, motivate, coach, and manage branch staff.

- Set performance targets for staff; monitor & review their performance.

- Identify training needs; ensure staff are well trained in products, processes, customer service.

- Maintain proper staffing levels; recruit or redeploy resources as needed.

Compliance, Audit & Controls:

- Ensure all regulatory, statutory & internal audit requirements are met.

- Ensure documentation is complete and accurate.

- Maintain internal control, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

Strategic & Local Market Planning:

- Analyze local market conditions, competition and customer needs.

- Develop and execute branch level strategy in line with banks overall strategy.

- Plan and manage branch budget & forecasting.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

- Bachelors degree in any discipline (Preferably Commerce / Finance / Business). MBA or relevant post-graduate qualification is a plus.

- Typically 5-8 years of experience in banking/financial services, with exposure to branch operations & sales.

- Experience in managing a team.

- Good understanding of bank products: retail banking, advances/loans, deposits, wealth management, insurance, etc.

- Strong knowledge of compliance, audit, regulatory requirements in banking.
