Bonhoeffer Machines - Investment Lead - Family Office

Role Overview

We are looking to hire a Founding Investment Lead to help build a new investment platform from the ground up. This role will have end-to-end ownership of investments, from thesis creation to portfolio management, while setting up the core processes, governance, and team.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and own the investment thesis and strategy aligned with long-term capital objectives

- Source, screen, and evaluate startups across relevant sectors and stages

- Lead commercial, financial, and legal due diligence and drive deal execution end-to-end

- Structure and negotiate investment terms; coordinate with legal and external advisors

- Actively manage and support portfolio companies post-investment

- Set up internal investment processes, reporting systems, and governance frameworks

- Hire and mentor future investment and operations team members

- Prepare and present portfolio performance and investment updates directly to the founder/leadership

- Ensure legal, regulatory, and compliance alignment across all investment activities

Ideal Background

- Former VC or PE professional, Family Office investor, or

- Startup founder/operator with hands-on investing and fundraising experience

- Proven experience evaluating startups and leading deals independently

- Strong founder, investor, and ecosystem network

- High ownership mindset with comfort operating in a zero-to-one environment
